Day 280 - I'm still alive!

Well this is the biggest fail in the year since I skipped a weekend. I skipped a long weekend, but I did finish work and I wanted to full enjoy some days without doing anything at all. Not that anyone reads this, not like anyone was let down by me not posting anyway haha.

I can't remember if I even posted this but my last day went really well, everyone was nice and I got to leave early. Then I spent the weekend doing nothing, and I mean nothing, because I've had no god damn internet!

I'm back home right now seeing some family, and the internet haha. Decided to watch some It's Alwas Sunny in Philly, got shown it a few weeks ago and both me and Johnny loved it straight away, can't wait to watch some more tonight, fed up of watching the same shit on my laptop over and over.

I want to say that I'll start blogging properly again when I'm back home and I have a decent internet connection but it still could balls up knowing me. But we'll see, I'll try and keep in top of it.

Thursday 14 August 2014

Day 276 - One day to go.

Today was my second to last day at work, people have started to say bye and I've cleaned up my desk, I want to tell you it'll be emotional when I leave but I can't wait to get home and sleep for as long as I want, it's going to be awesome up until I remember I have no internet and I get bored of staying in the house all the time but it'll be awesome for the first few days at least.

Went to see Guardians of the Galaxy last night and it was awesome! Marvel really stepped it up for comic book films, they didn't go down the usual comic book movie path and made it a little more light hearted. Plenty of jokes, which some people think is a little lame but I thought it was great. A big break for Chris Pratt as well, he nailed it and I'm sure he'll be turning up in lots of other movies soon. If you've not seen it, go see it!

After the movie me and Johnny mooched over to Dan and Harry's house, first time I've been over to theirs and it's a nice house. We had some beers and listened to some music with them. Got pretty late by the time I got home and I thought t was going to be hell getting up in the morning but I was totally fine. 4 hours sleep and I did a full day without moaning, not bad!

Johnny has band tonight but I think when he is back we'll try fit in a few beers before we bed it, he leaves in the morning for Ireland. But then I get Terri back for the weekend and I'm going to finally try and make a curry. Should probably look into a little more before I buy anything, but everything should hopefully turn out fine.

Last day tomorrow, let's hope it's an easy last day!

Wednesday 13 August 2014

Day 275 - Guardians Of The Galaxy tonight

Thought I'd get this post out the way early so I don't forget. I am super busy at work today, plus I'll be super busy tonight, so it is for the best that I remembered to blog during my lunch break, rather than at 11PM tonight when I realised that I'd forgotten to blog. So here we go.

I'm actually going to make use of the "schedule" tool on blogger and get it to post later on today, around 5/6PM is my usual post time*. It is a little annoying I have to use PST time and I can't use GMT though.

*when I don't forget

Yeah, it has actually been pretty busy at work today, everything in general has died down though. At least one day a week everything seems to go wrong and I have to run around the entire campus to make sure everything is back on its feet, but it is nice to have something to do during the day. I just hope it doesn't keep me late, planning on leaving a little earlier tonight so I'm not late for the cinema.

Like I mentioned yesterday I'm meeting up with Johnny, Danny and Dan at the cinema to watch Guardians of the Galaxy, Johnny has seem it already and has said it's a great film. Really hoping we don't fall into the trap of getting a few drinks after we've seen it, really don't fancy waking up at 8AM with a hangover and then having a full days work. Me and Johnny were originally planning on going over to see Harry and Dan at their place to have some drinks, but we thought we'd be sensible and save it for the weekend...well hopefully we can keep to that anyway. I know me and Johnny, one word involving "town" or "drink" could throw us down the nasty but fun path of going out and getting stupidly drunk. Wish us luck tonight.

Two more days left in front of this computer. It is going to be strange when I have nothing to do during the week, hopefully I can find plenty to do. I say that, I know what I really need to do, and that is focus on my final year project, I have a stack of books waiting to be read. I'm sure I'll be able to get through them before the real work starts in September. Shit, that is next month...

Tuesday 12 August 2014

Day 274 - Slowly picking up classical guitar

So I didn't blog at work, it has been pretty busy and I did want to run off as soon as I could so I could be at home with a cuppa, that'll all change soon as this week is over. I'll still be drinking tea but I won't have to wait until 5pm to have one, which is an amazing thought right now.

Starting to have a pretty decent plan for the rest of this week as I slowly come back I to student mode. Tomorrow Johnny is back for a few days and we're meeting up with Danny and Dan to go to the cinema and watch Guardians of The Galaxy. I've only heard good things about it, not watched any trailers, don't think I want to be honest. Rather just get the full force of the movie. But straight after seeing that we're going over to Harry and Dans (this is another dan, we know a lot of dans) house, we're gonna have some drinks with them. Then the day after that Johnny will still be around, but it is his last day here before my last day at work, so we're going to celebrate a little and we may end up out, we may not, we shall see. Then on Friday Danny is coming over for the weekend and we're gonna playing some xbox, now I'm a free man! Plannnnnn.

Seen as though I'm a free man next week I'm heading home to see my Mum and my grandparents are coming up for a few days, it'll be nice to see them all again. It's been a while since I've last been home.

I have been picking up my guitar a lot recently and have been just jamming a few riffs I have come up with. Last night I thought I'd give it a go at recording a little solo video, I did and I'm pretty pleased with what I came up with, I don't think I'm going to post it anywhere though. I am slowly picking up these new techniques and I am really enjoying learning all these new shapes and styles.

Tomorrow is the 3 day marker before I finish. My mood is changing now I know that this year is slowly coming to an end. I say slowly, it's felt like 10 minutes since I started.

Monday 11 August 2014

Day 273 - Internet-less

Today our internet went down. The landlord said it was going to happen soon because the last tenants didn't pay the bills, which is a shame for me because I'm in the house on my own with no internet. Luckily he said he will sort it out as soon as possible, which is good news.

So it's the first day of the final week in work. Weirdly I have been pretty busy today and expect it'll be be same tomorrow. Starting to come up with some plans for the next person who's taking over. Might write them a coded message explain to them how much of a boring year they're about to have. Maybe someone else will enjoy it more than me?

Seen as though it is my final week I'm planning something pretty special for the Thursday and Friday. Thursday is the last night Jonny is here for a good week or so until he moves in, so we're planning on getting pretty drunk on the Thursday, we may end up out, we might stay in and eat Burger Time. Then on the Friday I'm gonna get Danny round and we're gonna do it all again! Really looking forward to have them days to do nothing but be a student again. Then in no time Johnny will be back and we can go crazy all the time.

Going to start blogging at work for this week until my internet is back up, at least I'm going to try and remember to do it. 4 more days left!

Sunday 10 August 2014

Day 272 - Sleep. Please.

Ended up staying all night last and watched the first and second Matrix film. No idea but it was awesome to watch again after so long.

So now all day I've been stupidly tired because I was up all night. So now I'm getting to bed early with the office and hopefully I'll fall asleep soon.

Good night. Final week starts tomorrow!

Saturday 9 August 2014

Day 271 - Back on my own

Terri headed off this afternoon after a few days here, had both her and Johnny here  for a few days and it's been great. Still looking forward to the day Andy is here as well and we're all fully here.

Thought I'd have a slow day so I ran to the bus stop to make sure Terri didn't forget her bank card which took it out of me that's when I decided I'm doing nothing more this weekend. And that is what I did. I got in out the Simpsons and on and didn't stop until I got hungry, had some food an carried on.

Thought I'd change t up a bit now, sat downstairs and listening to some vinyls before I go watch some more tv, wow what a weekend haha

Friday 8 August 2014

Day 270 - sleep time.

Keeping this short, might make up for it tomorrow but I don't normally do much blogging on the weekend.

Was dead tired again this morning and it messed me up for the day, ended up napping for 20 when I got in from work and then I had an epic sandwich and got in the bath.

Now I'm watching The Simpsons, golden era episodes though, none of the modern ones.

Need to decide what I'm doing tomorrow, probably be a boring day on my own like.

Thursday 7 August 2014

Day 269 - Meh

I know it's a bit of a fail but I don't fancy blogging today. Been a boring day and I'm just getting to fed up of doing the same shit everyday and then saying it all again when I have to blog. I think if I found out two things this year it's been, I don't want to work in IT and I can't/don't really want to blog. I know it sounds harsh and stupid saying this whilst blogging but at least I've given it a go and I will carry on until I've finished the full year up, as I will be doing my placement. But they are two things I will most probably not doing again.

I do still have just under 100 days to post for, but seen as though I only have one more week of work, hopefully the posts will start to pick up a little. Maybe them final weeks will help me enjoy blogging again like I did in the early days, but it's just so hard to keep on top of a daily blog and talk about the same crap you've posted about for the past five days.

When I write stuff out I like to at least thinks about a potential audience and what they might want to hear, and most of time I even bore myself with what I write, so no doubt anybody else reading through these posts would find it even more boring. But I guess that is what life is like for a placement student, doing the same shit each day just to make money, it's the exact life I do not want.

Wednesday 6 August 2014

Day 268 - Not long now

It hit me today how little time I have left in my placement even though I've been constantly counting down the days to when I finish. But it's now 7 full days until I actually finish. It really does only feel like 10 minutes ago I was starting and feeling excited about trying something different, here I am now so thankful I made it through a very boring year.

Didn't blog at work, Terri came and met me outside work and we picked up some food because she is over for a few days. She'll actually be back in Huddersfield full time again very soon, she got accepted on her course which is great news. She's back in Huddersfield with a friend from first year who is coming back.

Keeping this one short, still super tired from the past few days. But tonight I am getting into bed early and getting lots of sleep ready for 2 more days of my second to last week. Hooray!

Tuesday 5 August 2014

Day 267 - Today has be interesting with very little sleep

Had Dan and Harry come round and it was great, it only means I got very little sleep and had to be in work the next day.

This morning was very hard. This is been the one morning I have considering staying in bed that little bit too long, but I fought past all the pain and got ready for work. I have no idea why but I soon as I got outside I was just in a good mood enjoying the walk down. Barely anyone out and about, really clear day so you can see all of Huddersfield on my way down to town, and I just got a really nice feeling of being back in Huddersfield with everyone we know, and plenty of company. It's a great feeling.

Really I should be dead grumpy about having no sleep and being up early, but I got into work and the day has suddenly disappeared. Literally got an hour left of work and it feels like I've only been here an hour, honestly. That's all good, the sooner I get home, eat food and go to bed the better.

Was fun last night though, they came over about 6pm and we just spent the entire night just talking drinking beer and having music on. We got some epic stories as well about there travels to Amsterdam, which me and Johnny really want to visit soon. We're thinking of all going together, and that way we have someone in the group who has an idea of what they're doing. But I guess half of the fun is not knowing where you are and finding different places. I think we're going to pay the Netherlands a little visit next year when we all have some money and extra time from uni work.

Other than that I've been sat here thinking about the clock slowly ticking away. Think I'm meeting Johnny so I'm not walking on my own looking like a fool taking in the fine Huddersfield air, or at least I'll have someone to do the same thing with haha.

Monday 4 August 2014

Day 266 - I did it!

I've finally remembered to blog at work. That means I can actually do a proper post rather that a crappy mobile one.

I say that, they're not actually that different, but anyway...me and Johnny tried to plan out the next few days, seen as though he is around for a while. We're thinking of maybe heading to the cinema this Wednesday to see How To Train A Dragon 2, not that I've seen the first one but I'll try check it out before Wednesday. The only thing I've heard from it, is that T.J. Miller is a voice actor in it somewhere, no idea who, but I do like T.J. Miller, so I'll keep my ear out for him.

Wasn't expecting it to be this warm today so I braved it and walked to work in the work clothes and it was the worst idea. Glad I did bring my shorts just in case. Don't know how I use to do it some days. Working up a massive hill in jeans and a shirt. I'm just waiting for the day until shorts become formal wear, that'll be the day.

Got some friends coming over tonight. Harry and Dan. They came over to visit a few times in Leeds and we had a night out together but we've not sat down together in ages and had a catch up. And now we live so close to each other we might as well, no doubt we'll end up on many nights out with them over the next year as well. Me and Johnny met Harry in our first year of uni, and he was good friends with Dan so we instantly all became good friends.

Ebayed some stuff over the weekend, and its finally come to post them. I'm a little nervous it's the first thing I've sold myself on eBay. Well I say that, Terri put it on for me and she packaged everything up for me. She is pretty damn good at it though. Made some money though, depending on how much postage will come to.

Well, I'm leaving a little early to get over to the post office and I want to clean the house up a little seen as though we have company tonight. Hopefully I'll remember again to blog at work, we'll see.

Sunday 3 August 2014

Day 265 - Another late one

Yeah it's another one. Pretty sure this weeks posts have been super late, well not super late. But you know.

Got up dead late today actually, me and Terri has a massive lie in and it was great, even ended up going back to bed for an hour after we had a giant bacon sandwich. Had to take a picture it was packed that beautifully with meat.

After I got up for the second time Johnny was up and we chilled a little and listened to some music. Ended up getting in touch with some friends that we've not seen in a while and they're coming round tomorrow for a catch up. That'll be a good laugh, not seen them for a while. Glad I randomly text them haha.

Anyway, I've made some late night food and I'm gonna watch some random crap until I fall sleep. 2 more weeks left of work!

Saturday 2 August 2014

Day 264 - I love sleep

Woke up dead early this morning but still felt good to still have at least an extra hour sleep haha.

Me and Terri picked up enchiladas after she finished work and they were pretty sweet, we stuck on Total Recall but ended up turning it off, it seemed a little OTT. Might check out the orginial at some point, just reminds me too much of Bladerunner which is actually an amazing film!

Keeping it short, Johnny is on his way home and I think he wants I get a takeaway when he gets in so I'm staying up for him like the good friend I am haha.

Friday 1 August 2014

Day 263 - It's been a bad week for blogging

Yup, again. Don't think I've ever forgotten an entire week. Damn.

I'd love to tell you that it's been a crazy week and I've not had time, but honesty, I just keep forgetting. Maybe I'm getting old? Nah I'm just a lazy student who can never find time to do everything in one day. Which mainly is trying to fill my day with, doing nothing but calling it productive, eating, sleeping, playing games, seeing friends an drinking. Trying to fit that around a 9-5 job and a daily blog is difficult, let me tell you that.

Finally for round to watching I Love You Phillip Morris. Great film. It is a little "heavy" in places but I really enjoyed it. It's almost like a gay version of Wolf On Wall Street. With less drugs. I think me and Terri tomorrow are gonna give Total Recall a go, which is a bit of a change from the previous film haha.

Went back to a classic food tonight and went for a waffle pizza, sold a few things on eBay (a few t shirts...) so I thought I'd celebrate hahaha. Not been a big seller in the past but I think I might start selling stuff rather than throwing it. And I had so many clothes I needed to get rid of so I might as well of sold some.

Time for the weekend now, starting it with a bath and then I'm gonna watch some more tv til some stupid time in the morning I think. Yay.

Thursday 31 July 2014

Day 262 - I'm a good blogger

Forgot again, surpirse surprise.

Terri had her interview this morning and she got up at the same time as me...well I say got up she was awake and layed in bed at the same time as me as I was up getting ready haha. Good to see I'm not the only one a little grumpy on a morning haha. Apparently the interview went really well though and she finds out in a few days, I've got my fingers crossed for her because she really want to get on this course and she's put a lot of work in to try for it. I'm sure she'll do fine.

I left work a little earlier so that's why I didn't blog, but it was a good call because I picked up some epic buscuits me and Johnny always destroy after work with a cuppa. I've probably mentioned them before but they're the cheapest biscuits but they're so good. Honestly next time you're in Tesco buy a pack of chocolate chip digestives for 80p, you will not regret it. I always pick up two packs to be safe haha.

Even though I did forget to blog at work I have found a little bit of quiet time to properly blog, I think haha. Even though I have been on my own most of time in the house when we have a full house it is really nice to have some time on your own, even though I am really looking forward to having everyone in the house soon and being able to chill together, it'll be a lot of fun. It did sort of hit me today the amount of work I am going to have to put in to get a good grade at the end though, I just need to stay positive and push myself as much as I can, as soon as this placement is over I am going to flood myself in books and academic studies. On top of that I have my other modules, but I think with the personal skills I have learnt this year they'll help a lot.

Cooking for Terri again tonight, that isn't a complaint because I love cooking for other people, even though it is only pastabake but I put my own twist on it. As much as a twist you can put on pastabake anyway. Next week I'm planning on making a curry for both Terri and Johnny, it's something I've never made before but, again with enough research and stuff I think I'll be okay. Going to try my best with making it from scratch.

It's looking like a weekend on my own again, so I think I'll come up with a list of films and blast through them. Still got so much to watch. I Love You Philip Morris, Total Recall and a few others I'll come up with on the spot haha. Come on Fridayyyyyyy.

Wednesday 30 July 2014

Day 261 - Well, it's going well

Went and forgot again didn't i haha. Oh well I'm sure I can rustle up a few words before I go to bed.

Terri has got her interview tomorrow for a teacher training kind of course and she's been hard at work with her presentation. She's put the work in and I'm sure she'll nail it even though she's a little nervous.

Johnny returned to the house again today, he's back for a day or so, heading back home and then he'll be coming back again for a week. It'll be nice to have him back almost full time. It's a shame that I'm still working because we could enjoy it a little more, no doubt he'll have some work to do though as well. Plus we can get some practising in that week and get fully started on our new project.

Anyway, the later the posts get the shorter they'll become. I WILL REMEMBER TOMORROW!

Tuesday 29 July 2014

Day 260 - Forgot again, damn.

Forgot again, it is the beginning of the week. I'll get back on it tomorrow, I'm sure I will haha

Got another long ass sleep and just managed to catch up, finally. So today was much better, even though it probably wouldn't stop me from asleep at work.

I honestly bore myself just talkingn about it, so I best stop, even though I have nothing else to talk about haha.

Got Terri coming round after she finishes work and we're making bangers and mash which we haven't had in ages, so I'm a little excited for that haha. I have been on pasta for most of the weekend what with me being a student an all. That's one thing I do want to try and do though is cook some more crazy food, but the problem with that is finding crazy food that Terri will eat haha.

With Terri coming round we usually put a film on, and tonight we're going for the remake of Total Recall. I've not seen the orginial to be fair, but after Colin Farrells performance in Saving Mr Banks I can only hope for the best, I've heard a few good comments about it. Guess I'll give my opinion tomorrow, hopefully at the end of work when I remember to blog this time haha.

Monday 28 July 2014

Day 259 - Tired Monday

Even though I had a ton of sleep I still felt tired this morning.

Got an insane amount of sleep last night but because I'm so behind on sleep I was still tired and almost fell asleep at work which never happens. So tonight I'm actually getting into bed really early and making sure I get caught up.

Started watching the Cannonball run and was really enjoying it but ended up falling asleep. Going to try finish it off tonight but I don't see it happening. I'm flagging now just writing this. Still managed to get an hour of practising some guitar though, trying to get at least an hour in a day so I can be fully practiced before we set off for a tour next year. It is like learning a new instrument, I thought a lot of things would cross over from electric but they really don't. Even so, I'm still having a lot of fun learning something new. Decided my next instrument will be piano, after listening to Tubular Bells I really want a large list of instruments I can play to a high standard. It'll be tough and expensive but it'll be worth it for sure.

Did a classic move and forgot to blog at work didn't I? So it's another classic phone post for Monday. I am coming to the end of this year though, can't actually believe I have managed it, there have been times that I've felt like it's a bit pointless and thought of stopping it, but I said I was going to do it for a year and here I am 200 odd days in, so I'll finish this. I definitely started it at the wrong time though, because all I do really is moan about work and how hungover I am on the weekends. I should of started in final year, even though nobody read these I feel I would have much more exciting things to talk about. Anyway, I'll have two months of final year posts before I finish up filled up me moaning about uni and how hungover I am all the time...

Sunday 27 July 2014

Day 257/258 - Weekend post

Didn't really get time to post yesterday, me and Johnny sorted the house out and we ended up going out. Man I'm hungover and wasn't expecting it at all.

We had a load of left over stuff left over from the last people that had the house, so we decided to make some room and strt shifting it. The main thing was a big old tv, which is useless. But we didn't fancy breaking it because we'll probably end up getting charged for it.

After all the work was out the way we had a chill out for an hour or two and played some guitar. Started writing a few songs and started to think of some names to ca ourselves when we're out and about. We have an idea for an album cover which is pretty sick in my opinion but we have to wait until we're in Europe to do that. Don't want to give it away yet either, so we'll see if it happens.

We met up with some old housemates of ours from second year, we'd not seen them for at least a year so it was great to catch up, it was honestly like we never left, I think this year is going to be fun. We had a few drinks in a bar we use to always go to in first year, which then lead to another bar. Revs...terrible...terrible place. If you like your bars with overpriced drinks and scumbags that think they're classy then go for it, but it's not my place. But after that we went on a little adventure and found a bar that sold vodka and mixer for a quid, so we went crazy in there for a while, and headed back home. I didn't think I was that drunk until we got in, because it was 7am and I woke up at 10, still pretty drunk haha.

So yeah, been in bed pretty much all day playing games and watching shit. Gonna get in the bath and watch the Cannonball Run, I don't know why, I've just heard good things and fancy a comedy to watch.

Back to work tomorrow, three weeks to go.

Friday 25 July 2014

Day 256 - I've missed Friday

Well I woke up in a terrible mood this morning. Usually I'm just a little grumpy until about 9am and then I'm fine but today I was on a war path. Woke up, and slammed my head on the ceiling, guess that's what I get for being the tallest in the smallest room in the house. After that I was so under prepared for the morning, I usually like to have everything set up so I can pick up and go, but not today, it was a right battle trying to get everythingn sorted out. Which annoyed me even more.

Work was boring as, like always. I was sat in a boiling hot office all day, well is at all day, I finished all my work early and got out of there as soon as possible.

Here I am at home after a walk around the park near my house with Terri. We have pizza and the unlimited possibilities of the internet so we're all set haha. Going to try and pursade Terri to watch The Prestige. We watched Saving Mr. Banks last night, and to be honest I was expecting much from it at all but after I really enjoyed it, it was so well filmed and the actors into are great. Colin Farrell was truely amazing. I know it's totally different but I might give Total Recall a go next time I have some spare time.

Time to start the weekend, got some drinks to be had with some old friends and then it'll be jam time for me and Johnny.

Thursday 24 July 2014

Day 255 - That was a quick day

Had plenty of work in today, which means the day has flown by and I soon look forward to going home, and cooking loads of foooooood.

Got Terri coming round tonight and I'm cooking her something up, can't remember if I mentioned it or not...I'm making smoked bacon and tomato spaghetti. I've never made anything like it before, so it could go either way.

Johnny couldn't make it over to the house last night so I had my final night on my own, I honestly thought I'd be able to deal with being on my own in the house fine, but last night it hit me pretty hard. No idea why, just found myself a little down about the fact I was on my own in the house. But tonight is different because I have both Terri and Johnny round.

Got talking to some of my old housemates I lived with in 2nd year, we're planning a little drink together over the weekend which I'm really happy about. Pretty much not seen them for a year because we've all been on placement in different areas so it has been tough to stay in contact and see each other, but I have a feeling this final year is going to be different. We're all back in Huddersfield and freshers is only a few weeks away and I think we'll all be back together again going crazy like we use to in final year. Really looking forward to it, like I said before it was perfect having that year away from Huddersfield, it is almost as if I've moved back again starting a new.

Had my meeting today and it went totally fine, must of lasted about 20 minutes tops and they loved what I've done with everything. I have like one or two tweaks left and then it'll be fully signed off. Then I pretty much have one final task last to finish in three weeks then I'm all finished. Hoping to get it finished next week, then I can have an easy 2 weeks on my final days of my placement. I scared myself earlier because I thought I wouldn't get paid for August, turns out I am though. So I will be able to pay my rent, then the loan will be coming in haha. Although I'm planning on saving most of it for when I actually finish uni.

It's Friday tomorrow, and I have no work for the weekend. I think we're planning on having a chill one rather than partying too much like we normally do. Plus side is no hangovers, hooray.

Wednesday 23 July 2014

Day 254 - What the hell can I talk about?

Seriously been the most boring day of my life. Working, and also waiting for work to finish...

Made my way into work early this morning, I had to take some photos of campus before everyone for graduation shows up. Which means I had to be on campus before 8AM, I'm sure you can guess the mood I was in walking around at that time. It would also be the one day that it's crappy weather in the morning. To be honest though, I prefer going around taking some photos rather than being sat in an office all day, at least it breaks my day up a little.

Other than helping out with problems around the office I managed to find some time to pick out what I'm going to cook Terri on Thursday. I'm going for smokey bacon and tomato spaghetti. I've made either thing individually before, but never actually put them together. It also has the Terri seal of approval so I'm going to give it a go.

Boring talk coming up. I recently re-modeled the website for the uni, and they really liked what I did. So much in fact they wanted me to present it to the head of Estates, which I did last week. But now the head of Estates wants me to show it people even higher up, tomorrow. I'm a little nervous about it, but I always get a little nervous for these kind of things and it ends up going fine. I'm hoping it is only a quick one though, I have a shed load of other stuff I really need to be doing. I'm hoping in final year their are a few more presentation type tasks, because I do really enjoy giving them now, that is one thing I've always been pretty good at, but this year has taught me a lot about it so hopefully I've improved with some industry work...using that term lightly though.

Other than that it is going to have to be a short one. Maybe tomorrow I'll do more exciting things, or not...

253 - Everything hurts

I still have a total surplus (I think I'm using this word right?) of injuries right now, everything from a bad back to gammy fingers...all my own fault of course

It's happening again, I'm finding it harder to get up, even though I practically live 20 minutes away from where I work I just can't fathom the reason why I get so lazy on a morning. I always find as well that my bed is just so much more comfy when I know I have to get up, but on a weekend if I wake up at 7 I can do it easily. All will be well in three and a half weeks when this placement is all over. I honestly don't know how people can have the same job for years and years.

The one thing that is getting me through today is that I know I have cheese at home, and a selection of films I need to watch. So it'll be a grilled cheese sandwich or two with a new film. And then of course I have my book to finish, I really need to finish it soon so I can start on my books for my final year project, I just want to be picking bits from them, I want to know them inside out before I start writing this final year report down. I think I've made the right chose in doing a reason based project, because I know what my final product is, I don't have to further research into that, I can just crack on with my essay when I need to...which will be all the time.

The worst thing about working in a office is when it's sunny. It gets far to warm, and I have my computer next to a window, so I can see everyone outside enjoying the nice weather, but I'm inside, coding HTML. Not long now, which I keep telling myself over and over.

Johnny is back round tomorrow, which is great news. Slowly been going insane with the notice that nobody is at home when I get there, it shouldn't be for much longer though, but I've always found myself missing human interaction a little bit, well maybe not human interaction just interaction with friends. I got so use to having someone at home when I was in Leeds, and then we could just chill, talk about the day. Was usually just us moaning about how much we hate work/trains/rude people/how experience everything is and so on. The list would never end, but we always had some great laughs, and it is strange to now have that. But like I've been saying, it won't be for much longer. Johnny is back for the weekend, I have Terri over on Thursday and before I know it we'll all be in the house full time with a shed load of uni work.

We're thinking of coming up with a checklist of goals we need to achieve this year so we don't miss out on the full uni experience, I mean don't get me wrong we have some stories already, but I think we have more than enough room for a few more for our uni days. Then it'll be the European tour stories!

Day 252 - Terri's Graduation

It was Terri's graduation today, she was a little but got through it. Very proud!
It has been the usual boring day at work so it was nice to have a change to go see Terri before she graduated. It was great to see her all dressed up in the robes and hat. Good thing I wear a shirt to work or I'd of looked a right fool in a black top in front of all these formal looking folk haha.
She was  a little nervous but I think it's pretty normal for someone to be like that. I met up with Jack who sings in my band and even he was nervous about it all.
I'm kind of looking forward to mine and having my family come down and see me graduate. Seen as though I'd be the first in my family to do so, but I have another year before that happens, hopefully I can manage this year and graduate.
Anyway, here is a photo from today that Terri's friend took. I do rather like it.

I actually took another little break to carry on reading On The Road, I just find myself wanting to know what happens next on this crazy journey, I'm only 3 chapters in and the craziness hasn't begun yet but I know lots of things are brewing from what I've been told.

Well, gonna have to make this a little short because I'm going for a drink with Terri to celebrate.

Day 250/251 - Bumper weekend post

Going to do a bumper wekesn blog tonight for the whole weekend, I have been pretty much bed bound for the last few days so don't expect major stories haha

Not sure if I mentioned in Fridays post but I got sent home from work because I just couldn't work, or sit down. My backs been playing up so much, I've never had a pain like it really, I've been really ill in the past but it normally only lasts for a few hours a day and I zone out but this is different. When I stand I feel like I have a weight on the top of my back pulling me backwards, and when I lay down or sit down it's just too uncomfortable. On top of that, I have a ripping pain in my shoulder and my knee has totally given up. Again, no idea why this is happening. Doing a massive food shop on Friday and helping Terri move some things probably didn't help, but she has done a lot for me these past few days so it's the least I can do really!

So I've been stuck in my room for most of the time watching films and reading.
I finally watched The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, and it was frigging awesome. The ending have me goosebumps which doesn't normally happen to me and it have me serious metallica feels, because they play a part of the ending before they come on stage. I also watched Taxi Driver which again is another awesome movie, I recommended them both, but if you actually enjoy good cinema then you've probably already seen them, I'm just behind haha.

Also started reading a book which I've been wanting to read for a long time. On The Road by Jack Kerouac. A friend of mine swears by it and has told me a few stories from it, and it sounds like my perfect book. I've finished the first chapter and I seriously think it's going to inspire me when it comes to finishing uni and I get to travel a bit. It's about a young normal guy who meets a guy who wants to do the same, and they get up to some crazy things. Everything from going to bars filled with LSD fuelled hippies to discovering new music.

Well it's late and I need to get to work early in the morning because I can't walk fast anymore, which is probably the thing that is annoying me the most haha.

Friday 18 July 2014

Day 249 - No going home for me

Well, I was planning on going home this weekend, but I woke up with the worst back pain I have ever had.

Got a great nights sleep, but as soon as my alarm went off it took me almost 5 minutes to get out of bed. Getting ready was a task, I couldn't bend over or move fast, so I was late for work. Normally I can do the walk down in about 20 minutes, but today it took me a lot longer, I've been left to a slow shuffle, and I have to go food shopping later, so that'll be fun...

Looks like it'll be a weekend with me, food and my painful back. I think I'll buy some nice food in to treat myself for the weekend, if Terri is free as well I might cook me and her something up. I know she'll be busy this weekend what with her moving out and everything. Totally just remembered I'll be able to have a cuppa tea when I get in, woo woo!

Today it hit me that I probably wouldn't be able to live on my own, I'm not finding it hard or anything, it is just nice to have people there when you get in and to have a laugh with. We're already trying to arrange a day that we can all be at the house, along with a few friends. No doubt they'll be some crazy antics going on as always.

I want to try and practice as much guitar as possible this weekend, but I can imagine sitting down with it will kill my back so much. Hopefully with a few painkillers it'll sort it out so I can play. I really enjoyed learning some new stuff last night, it really gave me the much need boost in guitar which I've been waiting for. The first few years of playing everyone just wants to rock out and play super fast solos, but after a while you begin to appreciate other styles. Reminds me of when I first started playing, and had a few friends as well that started to play. A lot of people I know judge someones playing by what songs they know, which is the worst way to think with an instrument. You might be able to play some really tough songs but can you write a song like that? Can you jam in the same key to a song like that? Probably not. Theory is boring but it is what makes you an actual guitar player rather than someone who can follow a tab or sheet music someone else has written. In my opinion anyway, I know too many tab warriors that think they're awesome.

Well I call that weekend o clock, bring on the food, tv, films, music, games, sleep and laziness. Woo.

Thursday 17 July 2014

Day 248 - It's a boy!

That's right, it's guitar day!

I got the message this morning after going into work the earliest ever. I went in bright and early to set myself up for a meeting I had first thing, it's nice being able to do things like that to be honest, as much as I won't miss the place it is nice to get a full day in and not wake up in the afternoon. Not that I won't be doing that in my final year. But yeah, after the meeting I got the message saying it was ready to be picked up. And I love it.

Here is the snapchat I sent haha. I opened it up in the office I couldn't wait until I got home. But I had to wait to play it until I got home which was a real bummer.

I've been playing it for hours now learning some flamenco licks and riffs and they're coming along nicely for day one. Hopefully I'll carry on progressing this year so I can show the world.

On Wednesday Johnny is coming back up and we are going to run through a few riffs together. We gave it a go on electrics the other day but it was nothing like playing it on a classical.

This is exactly why this blog post was late, as soon as I got in I got food ready and started playing, only just stopped. I'm planning on getting a few hours in a day so I can keep on top of it.

Wednesday 16 July 2014

Day 247 - Taco night

Didn't blog at work, because I didn't want to. I wanted to run to Terri's and start on these tacos, and it went pretty well to be honest.

I bought everything that was needed and was well prepared, for once. But it all went well surprisingly and I really enjoyed them and so did Terri. I sent over a picture to my mum and she is dead excited to give them a try haha.

Finally got round to watching Weird Als new videos today. Tacky and Word Crimes so far, apparently he is releasing a few more over the next week. It's good to see him back on the up, when I was in school he was pretty big but he died down after a while and now he's back. I'm hoping he goes on tour so I can see him which would be sick.

Anyway, making this a short one because I'm pretty much in bed haha. It's time to get back on the beards, I have a new one lines up this Friday!

Tuesday 15 July 2014

Day 246 - But I haven't do anything

Again, another very uneventful day. Other than work and shop for a new guitar.

Been looking online for some different classical guitars, I've found a few decent ones for a good a price but I don't think I'll be committing to anything tomorrow before I have a lot around Dawson's. I know for a fact though Dawson's will be a totally stupid price, they always over price guitars. Other equipment and stuff isn't so bad I've found, like I bought my amp which has been perfect since the day I bought it even after throwing it around and giving it some boots at gigs, and it was still a really good amp for a branded well known name. I think I'll always stick with Vox for amps, very warm and classic sounding. Plus the one I have has a valve in it along with some digital pre-sets.

I decided what I'm going to make for my mum, which is a late birthday surprised, this weekend. We've always enjoyed Mexican style food, not sure why. But I'm thinking of making Tacos, which will be one of the first times I've made them as well. I'm going to test them out at Terri's tomorrow though, along with some nachos. Hopefully it'll go ahead fine, I'm sure it will though.

It's only 23 days until I finish up, which only seems like round the corner, but if the rest of the days are anything like today then it is going to be a very long 23 days. Dammit.

I best start looking up some tips to making tacos and carrying on searching for my new guitar, plus I want to go home and make food before I actually pass out!

Monday 14 July 2014

Day 244/245 - Forgot plus I was having a major lazy day

Since last weekend, I didn't do much other than get my shit together and finish off work. I felt I'd take full advantage of the weekend, meaning I forgot to blog. Oops.

Going to try and do a longer post for the day that I missed yesterday, not that I did much to blog about anyway. I had a shit ton of work to do last weekend, plus I was moving into the house so I couldn't really enjoy my weekend fully, and be the lazy son of a bitch I normally am. I actually had to do things when I had the option to do nothing, God dammit. But like I said, I didn't miss much yesterday. Terri surprised me and came round, she ordered a pizza, which I ate most of haha, and we watched Step Brothers.

Ended up falling asleep pretty late last night, no idea why but I just couldn't sleep that well. It was pretty muggy out and everyone seems to find it hard to sleep when it's a little too warm. It's been pretty cool today so it shouldn't be so bad tonight I guess. Plus I still somehow managed to get up earlier than normal and get into work with no problems. Also managed to get a lot of work out the way what with my time nearly being up here, means I have a smooth final few weeks really, which will be nice.

So it has been another pretty uneventful day, but no doubt from out of nowhere a shit ton of work will come from somewhere, someone always manages to find me a load of work which pushes back work I'm currently doing. Anyway, I won't go into that anymore haha. It is so for me to become a student for one more time very soon. Four weeks left.

I think when I get home I need do a little clean up, it's not normally like me to do something like that, but I feel the more we all keep on top of the cleaning the less likely we are to screw the place up. Been through two houses and watched it become a state and then we spend days and days cleaning non stop to get a tiny piece of our deposit back. But this time it'll be different, hopefully anyway haha. After some cleaning, it'll be food and film time. Hoping to get an early one tonight. Boring, I know but four weeks!

Day 243 - It happened

Yeah of course it happened. Why did I ever doubt that we might not actually go out?

Ended up having a few to many drinks in Parish. A total stranger is to blame though. We we're sitting outside and a random middle aged guy comes and sits next to us, he explains that he likes to meet random people and buy them drinks because he has nothing else to do with his money. So after a shot with him he explains that he use to be in a band, a band which has played all over the world and still gets royalties today, so after some Google and Wiki evidence it turns out it was him after all. So a few more shots later we ended up getting in at 4, excellent.

Paying for it today, been in my room all day just watching tv. Nothing else for me to do anyway haha. My fire alarm ended up going crazy though, which was the last thing I needed.

Friday 11 July 2014

Day 242 - Parish!

It may have been a very boring work day, but it's Friday and Parish is on the cards, I have no idea where it ends though.

Me and Jonny made it a bit of a late one last night, we ended up listening to some albums, playing some games and then we had a jam for a few hours. I've missed being able to jam whenever we want, and as soon as we get our acoustics it'll be miles better. We did start writing a little song for when we play some shows just me and him, and I'm sure more and more songs will start to appear as the year goes on. This one is kind of simple, but it is more of an intro track for a gig, so it's pretty simple but it is something to get everyone pumped. As we learn more and more, and start to gel again I think the more technical stuff will start to crop up. You don't want to instantly blow it all at a gig within the first five minutes, you always want a mix of styles and talent, in my opinion anyway.

So after a bit of a late one, I got up kind of late and slowly made my way to work this morning. It felt weird being tired again on my way to work, I've been so much to being refreshed these past few days, it is like old times when I was getting a late train and turning up to work late, but I best get use to it because this final year is going to be hard, both work wise and time wise.

It is nearly the end of the day for me, which means Parish is getting closer and closer, I honestly can't remember the last time I even went to Parish and had a ton of drinks there. I think the last time I went I had food with Terri because she had never tried it before, and then the time before that I had a gig there, and with me living in Leeds I had to rush off dead early and couldn't enjoy myself after. So tonight we're going to enjoy Parish to the max. Old school Huddersfield student style, cheap beer and I'll probably take my hipflask out to be that extra cheap for a night haha. I'm not sure if we're going to go the whole hog and go to Bedlam after, or we just call it an early one and wait it out for Freshers, we shall see.

I wish I could write more but I've honestly had a very uneventful day, maybe I'll be able to tell you some more stories tomorrow from Parish, but I doubt it very much, because I could be stupidly hungover. We'll see. Weekend time!

Thursday 10 July 2014

Day 241 - Now I'm getting bored

I think because it's coming to my last few days of my placement I am finally getting bored and want to get back to being a student even more.

Thought I'd go into work for my normal time this morning so I stayed in bed a little longer, only about 10 minutes longer though. Jonny is around so I had someone to work do to work with because he had to go to town. We got talking about all the old games we use to play, and one name that came up was Runescape. (I know Terri's face has just screwed up reading this, and it'll get so much worse, so I'd just skip this part entirely, and if you don't like Runescape). But yeah, we both use to play it a lot as a kid and forgot how good it was, having this little community of players with its own economy and stuff, I know it's all swords and armor but I had so much fun play it as a kid, I am almost tempted when I get home to log into my old account and have a mess around on it and see what has changed. Probably the worst call, I might end up getting hooked again and then I'll fail my final year haha, nah I'd never let that happen, but I am surprised I managed to get through school with the amount I use to play, I use to look forward to weekends and holidays because I know I could play Runescape so much, I was a sad kid, but everyone use to play it.

I think I've mentioned this about four times, but my mum and sister came up yesterday and dropped off the rest of my stuff for the house, it is finally looking a little more like a home now, with the VIP Event flag, and the Seal - Kiss From A Rose cross stitch Terri made for us. My mum did the amazing thing and bought some fish and chips with her, which were amazing for a Huddersfield chippy, I even saved some and bought it for my lunch today and had a fish and chip butty, best idea ever! She did the classic mum thing and bought me loads of other food and even my sister bought me two pizzas, which was jolly nice of her.

I just managed to pack all my stuff in my room and then Jonny turned up. It was nice to have someone in the house again, I don't get lonely as such but it's just nice to be able to sit in the living room with some music on with someone else. Plus we went to a classic takeaway which we use to use a lot back in second year, Kashmir Spice which was opposite the house we use to live at. We wanted to go for Burger Time but for some reason it was closed. Kashmir has definialty gone downhill since we last use to go, hopefully Burger Time is still the quality food we use to get from it.

Well I am technically on my own again tonight because Jonny is at band practice with his band, so I think I'll crack a pizza in and watch some classic shitty tv. It is Friday tomorrow, and I think Jonny mentioned that he wouldn't mind going to Parish. Good old Parish, I have missed it!

Wednesday 9 July 2014

Day 240 - Back to normal, I think.

My final placement meeting is now officially over, and now I have to work for 5 more weeks and I'll be back to being a student once again. But that also means it is now only 5 weeks until I start my final year.

Got woken up at some stupid time by a terrible pain, which isn't like me, I never get ill (touch wood) but for some unknown reason both me and Terri were both really sick this morning. We can't explain for the life of us what it might of been. I'm feeling much better though now, but I think Terri is still suffering.

It's been another slow day to say I only have 5 weeks left, but I have my mum and sister coming up tonight and I think we're going to grab some food somewhere whilst they're up which will be nice. It's my mums birthday this weekend but I won't be able to make it down, until next weekend. Hopefully can get her presents over to her by then as well. I've got her some things to help her out at the gym. She's recently signed up and started getting into fitness. I have to admit she is looking really well and has been working out a lot, not that she needs to work out at all, but she enjoys what she's doing. I think next time I'm home I'll getting my running stuff back with me and we'll go for a run, I've not been running in a long time so I imagine she'll run circles around me.

With my mum and sister coming up they're bringing the rest of my stuff up to the new place, which means I'll be back with my guitar which I get serious withdrawal from if I can't play her. Yeah, her. Both my amp and my guitar are my daughters and nobody gets to touch my daughters with out my written permission. I'm hoping to purchase a classical guitar in the next few weeks so I can start learning flamenco and classical guitar, which is what I want to take with me around Europe after uni. I just want to turn up at a bar and say "would you like someone to play tonight?" and just play gigs in different counties. I might take a lot of work and it might take a lot of time, but I'm sure it will be worth it. Hopefully both me and Jonny can meet some musicians whilst we're out and about as well and start a band overseas.

Speaking of Jonny, he is back in the house tonight and I think our favourite takeaway could be on the menu, Burger Time! We went to town on that place in our second year, to the point were the delivery guy knew are names and always had a laugh with us. They're dead friendly there as well which is always a winner.

I think I'm going to try and make it a thing now that I come in to work a little earlier, because that also means I get to leave earlier, whilst the weather is like this I think it is the best call. Really not looking forward to it getting dark really early, hate that time of year. Just makes me want to run home and get in bed like an old man. Guess it could be different next year now I don't really have to be up that early and the prospect of nights out during the week come into play.

Tuesday 8 July 2014

Day 239 - I don't like people

Today has been fine, right until the end, but I promise I won't rant about it....too much.

I was up stupidly early and even managed to get into work the earliest I have ever been. I even saw that as an achievement. Soon as I got in, I had a meeting with my boss, which was pretty much my final meeting, telling me I can leave a few weeks earlier, which was great news to hear. So I have 28 days left of my placement, which I'm sure will fly by. This year has gone to fast it's almost unreal. It only seems like 5 minutes ago I have being interviewed for this very job and 20 minutes ago I was applying for uni. I hope this final year goes slow, but I know it won't. I guess the sooner this year is out of the way the soon I can try to chase my dream. I say chase, as soon as I pick up a guitar in another countries and have one other person listening to what I play that will be my dream complete, anything else is just a bonus.

I had my meeting today, in all honesty, I don't really want to blog about. It went fine, I guess. A few points were made which got me annoyed, but all in all, I'm expected a good grade for this year, be it annoying that I had to hand in two assignments, have two meetings with someone I had no connection with and as the total opposite to me, the world of work...I think not.

But that's that. I'm planning on going home, eating food and watching movies. I'll get to finish The Avengers tonight and start The Good The Bad and The Ugly, and maybe work my way through X-men. I didn't watch anything last night because Terri was round, we made some epic food. She had a tomato and basil sauce which we cooked in pasta and we added some meatballs, it was really nice. I really enjoy cooking with Terri, even though she is the fussiest person in the planet when it comes to food, when we made stuff together I do have a lot of fun. I'm making a curry for her next week, I say I'm making it, I'll make sure she helps out haha. It's something I've never made before but I'm going to do some more research and try it out. Should be a lot of fun.
I actually bought some of the pasta to work with me that we made and it was still well nice, tomorrows lunch is going to be a big disappointment now haha.

Got my mum and sister coming up to bring some stuff up and to see the house tomorrow. I think we're planning on getting some food after as well. It'll be great to see them and have a laugh. It's exactly what I need.

Monday 7 July 2014

Day 238 - A nice easy Monday

It has been a very quiet day at work, for a Monday it's always a winner. But I just want to get home and finish off The Avengers!

Finished off a lot of films I've been meaning to watch for ages last night but ended up falling asleep halfway through The Avengers, it was awesome so far. I don't normally go for comic book films but this one was great. To be honest it has inspired me to carry on watching some more. I finished off Sin City, which again was epic and moved onto Thor: The Dark World, which was also pretty good, a little cheesy in places, but what do you expect from a comic book film. Then I moved onto The Avengers, which is sort of in the wrong order, because it takes place in between the two Thor films, but either way I think I can get away with it. I only got halfway through but I'm itching to get home and finish it off. Also made reminded me that I need to catch up on X-men, I'm thinking of having a session of X-men from start to finish this week. Loved the first movie and never moved on from there for some reason.

It has been a slow day, I got in super early to try and impress my boss for the final month of my placement but she wasn't even in. Guess it's good practice for the last few moments of this placement. I have enjoyed it all round but it has made me realise that I don't want to do this job for a living. As a kid I dreamed of becoming the IT guy and helping out with loads of problems, but it is really not what I expected at all, it hasn't put me off IT at all, because I love the fact I'm getting a step up from everyone else in these machines that are very quickly taking over everything, but I think I different field of IT would suit me better, what that field is I do not know. I've also really enjoyed the marketing side of this placement, I've learnt a lot of new things in marketing. I think if IT fails me later on I'll move on to marketing. But I think my goal right now is teaching, Terri has just applied for a teaching course here in Huddersfield, and all being well she'll be on it. Looking through her personal statement she'll do just fine. Hoping I can follow on. But I think after uni I want to travel a bit and playing some music around the world, I am 22 and I want do that kind of thing before I get any older, hopefully I can find something somewhere else that can keep me a float, whether that be a full time job or playing music for a living, my possibilities are endless when it comes to the rest of the world. I think if I stay here I'll just end up in a boring job and I'll have no stories. I watched an Alan Watts lecture the other day and he said that if money was no object what would you do? If you know what you want to do, then do it. Wouldn't you rather do what you've always dreamed to do and lead a short life, than live a long boring life wishing you'd have followed what you'd always wanted to do. It's a very risky move, but in the long run you're always going to be happier doing something like that. Words like that hit me hard, I'm not sure if that's because I'm still a young gullible student, but I know what I want to do, and I'm going to go for it, no matter what. I am my final meeting with my tutor tomorrow, and I'm in two minds what to say when he asks me about leaving uni, do I please him and say I want to carry on in education and eventually become a teacher (which I do want to do), or do I be honest and say I want to do something crazy before I do all that. I'm thinking of being brutally honest with him, not that'll ever see him again. I do like to read peoples reactions when I tell them what I want do. The reactions of my close friends and family have all been 100% positive, but I know someone like my tutor will try and pull me back down and stop me. But nobody is going to stop me. I'm too determined to do it and I know when I put my mind to it, and have my confidence behind me I can do what I want...Wow where did this come from? Anyway, I remember hearing that you can fail at a job or goal which I don't want to do after choosing a path through fear dressed up as practically, so you might as well take a chance on doing something you'll know you'll love. So there I go haha.

Feeling pretty inspired right now, but that's enough of that for the time being, I'll let even more out tomorrow in front of my tutor and see what he says. I barely know the guy, maybe he will be behind me, either way. I'm doing it.

Day 237 - All work done, but it'll be back.

Going to make this a short one for a the weekend. I've put Thor: The Dark World on and my phone battery is running really low.

Started the day wth Johnny returning from his gig, it was good to see him. I'm use to seeing him most days and it's weird being on my own. Luckily I have a pretty epic girlfriend who lives very close though, so I don't feel too alone.

I cracked on with the rest of my work which I managed to finish, just. And then I enjoyed some laziness on my Sunday. I watched a documentary on Vietnam (I know, first choice for anyone who is having a lazy Sunday) and it was pretty intresting. After getting into a lot of music from the 60s the Vietnam war pops up a lot, so I thought I'd expand my knowledge in that area. It was based on letter which we're set from soldiers to their families, some of it was pretty dark but it didn't glorify war in anyway, and really showed the gritty life of the Vietnam war.

Thought I'd try and watch a ton of films today but ended up doing nothing but browse YouTube, Imgur and 4chan all day, oh the internet.

Decided I'm going to watch The Good, The Bad and The Ugly tomorrow. See as though Metallica start with a scene from it every time I've seen them I thought if best give it a watch.

Day 236 - First weekend in the new house

I'd love to tell you that it has been a lazy day, but it really hasn't. Although I did get a KFC which was pretty awesome!

Me and Terri fell asleep with everything turned on last night whilst we watched the Glastonbury highlights, can't even remember if I finished them or not I was so tired. We watched Star Wars Episode III during the day and I fell asleep during that, but Terri enjoyed it because it was the one Star Wars film she was yet to see. I do have to admit for the out of the first three episodes I do prefer the third. I do enjoy the first one, but that's purely because it came out when I was a kid and I use to watch it so much haha. The second is okay, but not great. Of course four, five and six are just amazing. I use to watch them a lot when I was a kid as well, I remember my mum bought me them all on a box set when I was little, no idea where that went. It was VHS mind, not like I can play them now haha.

We got up pretty late, because it was Saturday, I was planning on going to library last night to pick up a few books for my final year project but it was closed, so as soon as it opened I walked down with Terri. Before hand though she bought a KFC, which made the day a hell of a lot better. I don't normally blog about this kind of thing, but I honestly think I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her, she was the one that made me go to Uni, and she is always there to help me out whenever I need it. She puts everyone else first before herself and she is one of the very few confident people I know that isn't a total dick. I respect a person who is confident around themselves and around other people and doesn't have to be a total douche to make sure everyone knows about it. But yeah, she is a saint as far as girlfriends go, she puts up with so much shit from me and still sticks with me. Good thing I have her to keep me on the straight and narrow.

I was going to make this a short one, but I ended up blogging in bed because I've just spend five hours sorting out my work for next week. I have my placement tutor coming down this week to give me my final meeting. Not looking forward to it after I complained about it and he replied to the email I sent to the head of computing. Oops. I honestly do not care for anything he has to say, I know my plan for my final two months of work, and I know what I want to do for my final year project with feedback from another lecturer I had back in second year, and he is fully behind me. Which I like, because he is really nice guy, listens to great music and generally a very friendly guy. I think he will be one of the very few lecturers I will miss from uni.

Well, I'm going to crack on a film and get to sleep. I need to finish off some more work before Monday and I don't fancy doing it all last minute on Monday morning. I'm going to finish off Sin City and then move on to Taxi Driver.

Day 235 - GLASTONBURY REVIEW

Not doing a beard review today, I'm going a head and finally doing my review of one hell of a crazy weekend I had last week. Glastonbury! Before I start as well I am going to be that guy and doing a little star system of how I thought the band were.

***** = EPIC AS HELL
**** = Pretty sick
*** = Worth a watch
** = Alright
* = Meh

Well it all started on the 24th of June. I got up bright and early and packed my bag full of beer and clothes. It was stupidly heavy, but that's what it's like at the beginning of a festival. Too much beer was to blame, which I guess was a good start. I managed to very slowly make my way to my first stop. Leeds Train Station. This is where I was going to meet three fifths of the group I was going with. I managed to book the same train as them as they were passing through which was pretty good. The train there was fine, but as soon as we hit Manchester, a really busy city with a very busy train station things started to go west. We need to get to a tram we had no idea about and somehow squeeze us and a shit load of bags on to this busy tram. We luckily managed it, but when I got off the tram the tram driver thought it would be a great idea to start closing the doors as I was halfway through the door. Thankfully my bag took the force of the door and I managed to make it off in one piece. We finally made it to Dan's place. We relaxed a little, had out last decent meal and did some last minute preparations before we tried to get some sleep. Of course we totally forgot about the stupid time the coach was, before we knew it, it was 11PM and we'd only just managed to get everything sorted. We didn't see the point in going to sleep so we stayed up all night waiting for the taxi to take us to the coach station. We arrived in good time and got some decent seats on the coach.

I managed to get a good few hours on the coach, even though the sound of a coach engine is really hard to fall asleep to, I noticed the engine noise changed after a good few hours. When I opened my eyes it was bright, early and we were in the middle of nowhere. It looked beautiful. The odd house dotted about the miles of hills with cows and sheep everywhere. We got into Glastonbury for about 7AM, which is the earliest I have ever got to a festival. This is when things got sour again. We each had a shit ton of stuff, which made our bags super heavy, not only that we had two people at all times carrying the tent which slowly cut off the blood to your fingers if you held it for too long. The queue started to move but it was stop-start for about 2 hours before we made it into the site and got our wristbands. So we were all a little pissed off and not in a festival mood before the first beer. The heavy bags still on our bags we made our way to the other side of the festival to find a decent camping spot, we found the site we wanted to camp in before we found no space what so ever, which really put us in a bad mood, because we didn't want to walk all the way back again with the bags. From out of nowhere we found this totally epic spot, right next to a lock up tent and close enough to the toilets that we couldn't smell them but it wasn't too much of a walk. Also we camped next to some really friendly people, which made it a lot better.

The tent went up, the sun was out and we'd made it to Glastonbury. We all hit the roof and we'd found that festival feeling again, it was almost as if the pain and suffering of heavy bag carrying had paid off. Here's a little panoramic shot of our spot on the first night. We have (starting from the left) Martin, Darnbrook and Dan. Johnny is behind Darnbrook zipping up our beast of a tent. You can see we had a lot of space, and the giant spider was about a 5 minute walk away. Speaking of Arcadia, they could do so much with that! The giant spider is incredible to watch, but the music they have on for it is just terrible. But it was damn nice having a few beers from our tent watching it spit flames every so often.

During the day they tested the flames. Wow it gave me a shock when that started. I had no idea what was going on, but after a while you get use to the noises and find it pretty cool. Pretty sure me and Dan spent about 20 minutes staring at it and got some funny looks from people haha.

On the first night we thought we'd go crazy and just drink and check out the site. We all ended up drinking way too much. None of us can really remember what happened that night. We found ourselves around Shangri-la, but some of it was closed so we couldn't really do much. I, of course, was in my fur coat. Got a few people telling me I looked a pimp, success haha.

Waking up on Thursday was horrible, the sun was out again and it boiled us out of the tent at some stupid time. So we had no choice but to get up early with a terrible hangover. Luckily some shitty festival food and more beer got us back on the straight and narrow. We thought we'd take it easy on Thursday because we had to be up early to check out who this "special guest" was on the Other Stage. Oh yeah, the Other Stage was 10 minute walk away so we could easily get into things if we missed anything. But Skrillex was headlining the first night so they had to play his "songs" all day so they could set levels on that stage, which sucked, i'll honest. We had a walk over the Pyramid stage which was a bit of a walk, but it was worth it to see it. I still can't really believe it now that I've stood in front of that stage and seen some amazing bands. I remember when I was young watching it on TV and dreaming of being there, and I was there! Maybe one day I'll actually get on the stage, which would mean I can die a very happy man. So we said we'd get to bed early this night, but we ended up staying up most of the night swapping stories like the little girls we are. We ended up in an ale bar were the DJ was using actual vinyls and not using anything digital, which was really nice to see.

Friday. This is when it all kicks off. At this point we'd drank a lot, we woke up early to try and work out who this "special guest" was. We heard some music coming from the Other Stage, and I've never been more disappointed. The Kaiser Chiefs, who were playing other set that very day. So that annoyed me. We made our way over to the Other Stage though because the first band we actually wanted was Blondie(***), and they were a great way to start the festival, still on top form, but I guess with an older act like that all you think about is their hay day. Next we made our way to the Pyramid Stage for the first of many acts we wanted to see on that heroic stage. Rodrigo Y Gabriela (******), they're getting 6 stars for being an early starting band but still blowing my mind. The crowd was friend, the music was great. We had beer and it matched so perfectly. This performance has really inspired to me go out and tour and play classical guitar, both of them are just unreal musicals which I can only dream of being. (I look a picture, you can't see much you can see how close we got.) We wasted no time and moved on to the next act we had planned to see, the great thing about this day was that we planned on staying together through out the day and we didn't have to split up and meet up later on. We moved over to the John Peel Stage to see Temples (***). We didn't get too deep in for these, because we were still in the Mexican mood and bought a Fajita. They were good though, they seemed to get everyone singing and they wanted to stay so much that security ended up booting them off. We had one more band to see before we had a little break, but what a band to finish off on. Haim (*****). I wasn't much of a fan before I heard they would be playing, but I'd heard a few songs and thought they were pretty good, but after seeing them on the Other Stage they blew my mind. Very talent ladies, with the bassist pulling some pretty crazy faces. Everyone seemed to take the piss but surely that shows how much she is getting into the groove and really playing, I think too much bands just stand there and expect people to enjoy it, but no. They really put everything into it and gave a brilliant performance. Even threw a little Fleetwood Mac cover in there. After that we were all on a high and needed to get back to the tent to have a sit down (we're getting old). So after a sit down the agenda was exactly this "Food. Toilet break. Beer. Hip Hop." In that order, we went over the West Holts stage to see Jurassic 5 (**). Again we didn't go crazy and jump in we watched, but couldn't really hear much, not sure if it was a sound issue or we really were that far away. But that sort of is the whole point of Hip Hop and Rap is to hear the lyrics, but I'm sure if you were close enough it would of been a great set. I was really bothered about any of the headliners on the Friday so we all just went to see the Kaiser Chiefs (*), which when I first same them were great, but now Ricky has been on telly a bit he is a bit of a dick and played up to the camera a lot, which is a shame. Overall though we had a great time on Friday, some bands might not have been what I expected but just spending that time with some close friends and having some good laughs was great, and writing this is giving me some serious festival blues right now.

Saturday, which was totally solid day of really great bands and artists. Most of them playing the main stage so we could stay in one place for most of them. We started the day off with some raw rock in the form of Royal Blood (****). Again not a band I've heard much of, what with them being a very new band with no debut album out yet, but after a few songs they really hit everyone hard for an early Saturday morning slot at a festival. They nailed it though and really put us in the mood for another day of great music, really looking forward to their album. However, it all turned a little "different" when the next band came on. For RB it was a packed tent, as soon as they finished the tent emptied for the next band, I don't know if they knew what was coming, or they didn't but it was nowhere near as busy. Fat White Family (?). I can't even put into word how I feel about them, I guess you really like them or just find them terrifying. I think I really enjoyed them as a band, because their on stage antics are just what the music scene needs right now. A band that does whatever they want on stage, even if that means getting naked and choking audience members out. I'd suggest everyone to check them out and see what you think. After we got through FWF we knew the music was going to take another very different turn, in the form of a lovely lady called Lana Del Rey (****). Everyone said she seemed boring watching it on TV, and Lana herself seemed out of touch with her own music, but honestly, everything can be totally different when you're actually viewing a gig like that, and in my opinion she nailed it. To say she was once a very shy performer she has soon grown into a confident female singer. She smoked on stage and sang everything perfectly. Next up, I knew we were all in for a absolute treat when this name was announced, Mr. Robert Plant (*****). The lead singer of the rock band that started it all Led Zeppelin, how was this not going to be a fantastic performance. He jumped straight into the classics and didn't stop, of course he changed things up a bit what with him travelling around the world to find new music and added that into the classic songs, but nobody else could even touch them songs other than the original line up, I'm guessing that is why he kept well away from Stairway. We still got classics like Black Dog and Whole Lotta Lovin' though which were spot on and made everyone sing along to some all time classics which were probably massive hits when Glastonbury first started. Maybe one day the line up will get back together and they'll finally headline the legendary stage. To say we had just seen the a total classic rock legend, a modern day rock legend was just around the corner Jack White (*****) made his entrance bold onto the stage with Icky Thump and didn't stop with the White Stripes covers, even throwing in a few Dead Weather and Raconteurs covers. He was clearly in the zone and had a little too much to drink but that sure didn't stop him, he powered on through and played a storming set which was one of my personal favourties of the weekend. He of course ended with Seven Nation Army and ended up falling over his own drummer before getting up and giving a slight look to the audience before exiting the stage. Legend. The rock and roll train didn't stop there, we still had one final stop to make. Metallica (****), to say they had never played a festival like this before, and they had got a lot of hate and criticism from a few people they really gave it their all and showed Glastonbury what they are all about, they showed Glastonbury metal and everyone enjoyed. It was great to see a genre that formed my childhood be accepted into a festival such as that.

The final day, this is when you really start to stink, the toilets just start to smell of pure gasoline and you're running out of money after spending a fiver on a piece of meat wrapped in bread.
We woke up a little late, seen as though we didn't really want to catch anyone major in the morning, but we ended up watching some of the The Subways (*), yeah they have a few catchy songs but nothing seemed tight and the bassists singing was really out of tune, I don't know if they've gone down hill or they're just not that good live. Next up we went for a curveball, we all watched Thunderbirds as a kid, and the music was epic, so we thought we'd check out Thunderbirds Are Go! (**), not really my cup of a tea a classical orchestral set of a TV show I didn't really get into, but I can understand why someone would like it so much, and of course they came out the classic "5,4,3,2,1!" What more does a fan want? We had a big gap for us to grab some food and get some more beer for the next artist we wanted to see, again not someone I was a big fan of at all but after watching her play a set it, I may actually like her a little more. Dolly Parton (***), took to the main stage perfectly and didn't stop, she sang, she played Sax, she did everything. She really knew how to please a Glastonbury audience with her story telling between songs, which I did find pretty fascinating. Really Glad I took the time to watch her and everything she had to offer, good on her. I wonder who will be filling the "legend slot" next year? We stuck around mainstage for the rest of the day, but of course missed Ed Sheeran, I don't want to see another male solo artist with an acoustic guitar, you can walk down any high street and see that, I also found out that most Ed Sheeran fans are ignorant and rude. pushing there way to the front whilst we were trying to get out. Foolish people. Anyway, after Ed had finished killing music it was time for a band that, in my opinion has taken music by the balls, The Black Keys (****). Now I was pretty drunk for this band, but I loved it. Again everyone around us was really friendly and singing a long. They busted out the classics along with a few new ones from their latest album Turn Blue. It's a shame they didn't play more from the new album because it really is a great album, different from their older stuff, but still a great overall album. We stuck around again after The Keys and took a chance on a band I never thought I'd stick around for, Kasabian (*****). They closed the festival on a high, which every band should aim to do, I wouldn't say they deserve to close a festival like Glastonbury, but they certainly deserve to play in some format. They slammed straight into the new album and threw in the classics as well. I've not actually heard the new album, but after hearing a few songs live I can tell you I will be checking it out as soon as I can.

Well, after that was over it was time for us to check out some sights for the final time before we had to head back to the real world. We said goodbye to the ale bar and our lovely camping spot. We said bye to a few people camping round us as well. It was nice to not have so many heavy bags on us, but they still weren't pleasant to carry to the other side of the festival. Then it was time for a five and a half hour coach ride back to Manchester. And that was my Glastonbury Story. Probably going to stick with me for the rest of my life, and I'm glad I actually blogged about it and I'll be able to read it for years to come. Even if this blog does get deleted, I'll have to best thing of all, great memories.

So, Glastonbury 2015? We'll see.

Day 234 - It never ends!

Seriously this weekend will be the laziest son of a gun in the world. It's been a busy day at work, and then I sorted all my music out.

This bed is so comfy, I slept like a log and so did Terri. Got up before my alarm and jumped in the shower and then WALKED to work. I didn't have to get a train, I didn't have to bare rude people and I could walk and enjoy it. Managed to get into work nice and early, which is pretty rare haha.

Soon as I sat down I had a stack full of papers and 70 emails to go through which I wasn't looking forward to reading. Managed to get through them all though and finished and then WALKED back home. Hooray!

I was going to do my Glastonbury review today but of course I'm stupidly busy again. Tomorrow hopefully I can manage it. If it's not tomorrow then I'll do it on Saturday!

Wednesday 2 July 2014

Day 233 - Seriously busy until tomorrow!

I moved most of my shit over to the new place this afternoon. I have to say the new house is totally perfect, everything is fine give or take a few issues but I have a great room. It's in the top floor and has a great view of Huddersfield and the entire street. Looking forward to the next time it rains so I can look out the window and be a proper emo hahaha, nah but seriously I'm sure it'll sound sick when it rains.

Decided I'm going to start again with my music and properly own some albums. I'm making a list of the albums I want to own and put on my iPod. None of this streaming or downloading. I want physical copies of all the albums I need to have.

Well I have to get to bed so I can WALK to work, I get to walk to work, how amazing is that. No more trains, so happy about that.

Tuesday 1 July 2014

Day 232 - Too much to do

I'd love to do a nice long blog today but I really can't. We all got up nice and early to catch the train home, my plan was to go straight home but to save myself some time and money I've got off in Huddersfield and stayed with Terri tonight so I can go grab my key in the afternoon.

Really looking forward to having a place back in Huddersfield. It'll be nice to have everything local again, Parish, Burger Time and Bedlam. Yay.

Well it's my last day off tomorrow so I'll do my glastonbury review and the moving in of my new house.
