Day 231 - I'm back!

What a weekend. Great music, lots of drinking and a shit ton of laughs.

I'm not going to review the entire thing right now, because I'm a broken man and have food just minutes away from finishing. Actual food, I'm so excited. But it was a great weekend overall, very little went wrong.

Seen a lot of new music which has been great, I think seeing so many bands has given me a push to keep on going with guitar and possibly venture out of my comfort zone to try new styles.

Tomorrow I'll do a nice long post and tell you all the stories! But for now, I need food and sleep so I can face reality again haha.

Day 231 - Eden Camp/Late 'featured beard'

Today, I re-lived some of my favourite childhood memories and visited Eden Camp in Malton. Eden Camp is a former Prisoner of War camp which was turned into a World War 2 themed museum many years after the war ended. It is such a fun and interesting day out and really tells the tale of World War 2 in a unique way.

There are models of planes/bombs and tanks and reconstructions of scenes from the Blitz, the Blackout and other events and occasions during World War Two. As a child, I visited Eden Camp numerous times, and on one occasion with school, even had to dress up as an evacuee, complete with gas mask box! So this trip was very nostalgic for me.

I haven't heard from Jud today but I've chosen to adapt one of his usual blog features in my own way. Every Friday, Jud does a 'featured beard', and I'm aware that today isn't a Friday but I've chosen to display a few fine beards that I found at Eden Camp today. I don't know who any of these people are but I'm sure they're incredibly important, intelligent and unique human beings and their facial hair deserves its own recognition.

So, without further a do, have some mighty fine beards and tashes!

Day 230 - Armed Forces Day

In Scarborough today it was their annual Armed Forces Day which is a day full of events to commemorate and celebrate the work of th British Armed Forces. It's a day on which Scarborough is packed to the rafters with families and everyone comes out to enjoy the events.

There were things such as flyovers from the likes of Spitfires, Lancaster bombers and even the famous Vulcan Bomber which is the biggest and noisiest plane I've ever seen/heard but it was pretty cool.

Everyone was out in force for the numerous parades and performances and the sun even made a welcome appearance. The day was rather tiring so we chilled a little, playing on the 2p slot machines before a knackering walk up the spa and back to the car.

A well needed nap happened when we got back before we had an epic barbeque and I'm now chilling watching Glasto highlights trying to spot Jud in the crowd (not gunna happen).

As for Jud, he text me a bit this morning telling ne who he'd seen yesterday. Apparently Kaiser Chiefs weren't as good this time round but I watched it on TV and could tell that Ricky seemed to be playing up to the cameras rather than the crowd, which is a little annoying. As I'm writing this he's just text saying he can't wait for Metallica so I'd better reply quickly.

Tomorrow I'm heading to Eden Camp, a war museum that I used to visit regularly as a child with school and my family, so I'm super excited and will do my best to get plenty of photos!

Day 229 - I almost forgot

I'm a naff host, I almost forgot to update and I'm super tired so I'll cheat and finish this post tomorrow. Ooooops.

Forgive me I'm new to this daily blogging malarky!

______________________________________

Okay let's start again shall we?

So, Friday. I was up incredibly early for my train through to Scarborough for the weekend which was surprisingly quick and easy. Once I arrived, Jade picked me up from the station and we headed into town for a spot of shopping before heading back for a chippy tea. (Which I've been excited about all week!) We then started to get the wine out before heading over to watch McBusted at Scarborough Open Air Theatre. It was awesome! Some guy got so excited, that he jumped in the lake!

Anyway that was my Friday.

Jud's Glasto weekend began properly with bands such as Blondie, Haim and Kaiser Chiefs performing. I think he saw all of those but I could be wrong. I know he saw Blondie for definite because I had 4 missed calls from him trying to let me listen to Debs, but I was a terrible girlfriend and didn't hear my phone going off. Oops :/

Anyway that's all I heard from him really so I imagine he's having an awesome time, just like I am in Scarborough.

Day 228 - Jud got drunk/Packing begins

Had a few texts from Jud this morning which was nice, because truth be told, even though we only see each other about twice a week, we text or speak to each other every day and I'm actually missing him a fair bit, but Ssssh, I'm not soppy!

Apparently him and his friends had a great day yesterday taking in the crazy sights of Glastonbury from the big hill on which you can see the whole site. Caught a few rays, had a fair bit to drink and even went to a silent disco. It sounds epic, I'm very jealous.

When we spoke this morning, he was suffering a little by the sounds of things, so he must've drank a good amount because he hardly ever gets hangovers. But hey, that's festivals for you. His box of Krave cereal should keep him going a bit!

Apparently there's a 'special guest' performing early tomorrow and they want to catch whoever it is, because festival organisers have a habit of sticking someone quite unexpected under slots simply labelled 'special guest' to keep crowds down a bit. For example at Leeds fest one year we caught a 'special guest' which turned out to be, Them Crooked Vultures, - a supergroup consisting of Josh Homme, Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones - so, as you can see, its well worth checking out these so called 'special guests'.

As for me, I got up pretty early after an early night, did some washing and ironing and started a bit of packing. This was for two reasons. The first being that I'm heading to Scarborough tomorrow for a weekend at the seaside and the second being that I'm moving out in about 3 weeks time. I won't dwell too much on the latter because it makes me sad. But I'm really looking forward to this weekend.

Just a shift at work to get out of the way first, and that's where I'm headed now. Bore-fest.
Will do my best to blog tomorrow but its quite a busy day for me so we shall see, it might have to be a first thing in the morning blog whilst I'm on the train.

Day 227 - Glasto arrival/Terri got drunk

So as outlined in the last post, yesterday was my final year university results day, which inevitably meant, a raging night out, concluding with an even more raging hangover for the duration of today. Therefore please forgive me if this is a shabby post or completely indecipherable.

I will do my best to come up with a decent feature where I can, but until then I think I'll just give a brief outline of my antics and where possible, a bit about what George has been up to at Glasto, if of course, he has chance to tell me, as I'm sure he will be more focused on having an awesome time than being glued to his phone.

Anyway, lets commence.

So, yesterday I had an alright shift at work and luckily wasn't too tired, meaning I could rush home, have a quick bite to eat and get my glad-rags on for a celebratory night of drinks with my friends.

To begin with, we headed to Revs (or Revolution for the normal folk) for some of their awesome cocktails, which actually, while they were nice, proved to be far too sweet for me and caused me to almost hurl on the heated patio - oops. After a few drinks, we went to our favourite place in the whole world, (and George's worst place in the whole world) Camel Club, where we necked placenta shots (not actual placenta, just Archers, Jager and cranberry juice), supped classy Tuborgs and danced the heck out of Doc Brown (a lovely old geezer who is always in Camel, challenging revellers to some weird kind of dance off). It was a top night, I cried lots at the thought of leaving Hudds, danced on the platforms and subsequently got so drunk, that I had to ask my friends to put me in a taxi home, while they continued to party. Great night, all in all!

However I have been feeling the effects today. I woke up at 9:15 feeling like the human embodiment of death itself and spent a good half an hour laid on the floor in the corridor with two of my flatmates, trying to piece together what actually happened. I then proceeded to hop in and out of bed between 10 and 12 trying to sleep the sickness out of myself. After a much needed nap and a shower, we decided we needed food and so headed to Rhubarb (a bar in Huddersfield) for a spot of lunch. And boy oh boy was it good! It sorted me right out and enabled me to feel human again.

The rest of my day was spent napping and watching my friend pack up her stuff to move out of our flat, which was a little bit emotional, after living together for three years but luckily, I'm visiting her at home this weekend so I'm not alone for long.

So that was my Wednesday.

As for Jud, he arrived safely at Glastonbury and has apparently secured a top camping spot for him and his buddies to have their wild shenanigans in. The last I heard, he was meeting up with an old uni friend for belated birthday drinks in their Glasto camp, so I would imagine that by now, he is probably rather inebriated and giddy. He's trying not to use up his phone battery too much, so that's about all I've heard from him today, but I did get this snapchat from him of Glasto itself:

I'm all out of antics, so that's all for today folks!

Tuesday 24 June 2014

Day 226 - The adventure begins/Terri's takeover

Well today's the day. Jud's headed off to Manchester for the night, ready for his Glasto adventures and I'm the hostess with the mostest on his blog for the next week or so.

Not gunna lie he's picked quite a hectic week to be swanning off to Glastonbury and leaving me in charge, what with my results day today, my friends moving out tomorrow and me heading off to the seaside this weekend but I'll give it my best shot anyway!

This will be a mediocre start to my blogging week, as I'm quickly trying to fit in a blog before I head off to work for the evening. But up to now, I think Jud and his Glasto gang have met up at his pal's in Manchester and will probably be chilling with some food and maybe a few drinks before they head off to their coach at something silly like 2AM. As far as I know, that's how his day has panned out so far.

As for me, I found out my uni results today and am pleased to say that I'll be graduating in less than a month with a 2:1 degree in Media and Popular Culture BA (Hons). Wow! As you can imagine that means its been a busy day and could possibly be a busy night depending on how tired I am after a shift at work.

Buuut, its my day off tomorrow so hopefully I can drum up a better blog post, with a bit more to say.

Until then, this will have to do. Adios, my blogging amigos!

Monday 23 June 2014

Day 225 - I'm all packed

I'm all packed ready to take a trip to Manchester tomorrow. I've been busy all day getting everything sorted, totally forgot about all the heavy crap I have to carry but it will all be worth it once I get it all there.

Tomorrow Terri will be taking over for a week, if she has time of course. So expect well worded posts that actually make sense and other people might actually want to read haha.

Few quick lines about my birthday. It was totally sick. Got some amazing things and spend some quality time with the family, they're all amazing people that make days like birthdays so much better. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I best try and get a good nights sleep before the pain of a train journey tomorrow, so I'll leave it at that.

Back next week.

Sunday 22 June 2014

Day 223/224 - It's my birthday, let me explain.

Okay, say this weekend was going to be when I stop blogging and let Terri take over, but she's here for my birthday and she doesn't wanna be taking time out to be writing a blog so the blog will start again tomorrow.

Friday 20 June 2014

Day. 222 - Early beard post

I did the beard post early this week because I wanted to go home and also because I've spent my entire day off cleaning, which has been awful, but it had to be done.

Got up at 3am when my housemate got in after a gig and we got a takeaway, as you do. Went to bed after that for a few hours and got up early and ended up spending a good few hours cleaning be house before we move out on Saturday. It seriously killed me, after about 4 hours I ended up taking a break every 10 minutes.

It's all done though now, am now at home with food and a bath. But I can't make this a long one because I'm up early again tomorrow to pick up the rest of my stuff from Leeds. Really early, so bed time!

FRIDAY FEATURED BEARD - Rick Rubin (221)

Going to have to admit, this will be a little shorter than normal. I've managed to get out of work early, and I REALLY want to go home and start my holiday if I'm being truthfully honest, so here go...

This beard has shaped the face of so many different styles of music it is almost to good to be true. Everything from Rap, Heavy Metal, Folk. Chances are this man has had some say in it. He very rarely gets interviewed and very few bands get to try out his totally amazing recording studio in the beautiful state of California, Shangri-La. Before we move onto the beard in more detail, I do actually want to talk a little more about Shangri La. This recording studio really stood the test of time, it's a surpirsing minimal recording studio, with very little art work or fancy decor. Pretty much everything is white, but every artist that has stepped into that studio always seems to create a quality album, which I imagine this man has a lot to do with. Also the location, which is set right on the coast of LA. Check out this video, ignore Zane Lowe and his horrible drumming and just imagine being able to record some songs in there. Even if you're not into music technology, still check it out, it is an amazing place.

If you watched the video then of course you know that I'm talking about the genius, who is Rick Rubin. Rubin has produced albums such as: Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Kanye West, Jay Z, Weezer, Linkin Park, Jake Bugg, The Mars Volta, Limp Bizkit, Neil Diamond and Justin Timberlake, just to name a few. Just by listing them very names you can see the diversity Rubin works with. If we look at his beard in the first picture we see Rick has gone for a beard I like to call the "balls out" beard. No trimming, no maintance, grow beard and go! I respect any man that can grow a beard to such lengths and carry on about his business. I'm sure the odd person may have commented on his beard at times, but I'm sure he brushed off them very comments and went to sit in Bob Dylan's old tour bus which is sitting at his very studio all kitted out with the latest tech ready to record the next band or artist lining up to walk through the doors. He is a man of simple pleasures, but continues to wield the "balls out" beard to this day. Probably the biggest real beard I have reviewed. And honestly, I am making it a goal of mine to at least walk round that studio, if I actually got to use it, I think I would cry on the spot until I was told to leave.

Day 220 - One more day of work!

It's only mid week for some, but for me it is the beginning of the end of the week, which makes me very happy. Then my birthday and Glastonbury can officially begin.

I didn't blog at work yesterday because of the email I got reminding me about my final project proposal that needed handing in for next week. Of course I'm not here next week so I need to get it down within two days. Typical student way I left it until last minute, but I had a meeting with a previous teacher this afternoon and showed him my proposal and he really likes it and is really interested in supervising me for it. Which is great news, because I do really get on with him and he's a very friendly guy, and hopefully he'll guide me in the right direction. Very excited to get started on it, apparently I have many hours of skimming through the library to find some similar research papers. Joy.

Well that's one half of why I'm in a good mood. Tomorrow is my last day before I have many many days off, which I am so happy about. Seriously not had a string of days off in a long time. Going to go crazy with the sleep in the next few days before it all gets messed up after some crazy times at a festival.

I've actually started buying a few things to make it a little easier to carry some shit. For the past few years I've used a suitcase kind of bag, but this year I've bought a proper camping bag so I can keep so much shit in that, which will mean it will be so much easier to carry as well. It'll just be me, my fur coat and free hands on the way to Manchester, which will be great. So many times I've messed my hands up on the first day from carrying so much shit, half of which I don't even use. But this year is going to be different, I know it.

This is going to have to be a short one, because I've not done anything else today other than that. And I don't want to bore myself or anyone by ranting on about the world like I normally do haha.

Tuesday 17 June 2014

Day 219 - Bedddddd

Totally forgot to blog at work. Found out I have to meet with an old teacher and discuss my final year project, which I totally forgot about. I have like 4 hours in the morning to do a tiny bit of research and right a page description. I should be alright though.

So this is short one because I'm going to bed early so I can get the earlier train and do a little bit more work

Monday 16 June 2014

Day 218 - I love new music

Been a pretty pleasant day to say I didn't get much sleep, it's Monday, and it's dragging so much.

Yeah for some reason last night, even though I was totally knackered I didn't get a good nights sleep. I managed to get up in good time again though, it is actually starting to get a lot easier. I might even try to push it a little earlier. Not much point though seen as though I have 3 days left before I leave for Glastonbury. Yay!

Even though I'm a little tired and the day is dragging I've found some new music which has kept me going through out the day. I got told that Lana Del Rey's new album is out today, and seen as though I'll be seeing her in a few days time I thought I'd check it out. I have to say, it isn't normally the kind of thing I listen to whilst at work, but I really really liked her new album. It's called Ultraviolence (2014). If you've not heard it, go listen! I'm having my third run through now, and a few key tracks that jump out have to be the introducing track to the album - "Cruel World". Perfect opener. Then we move onto "Shades of Cool" which is a total bond theme, and could well end with her doing the theme to the next Bond movie, which I would not complain about. Straight after that we have "Brooklyn Baby" and "West Coast" which again are two great songs back to back. "West Coast" has a very strange feel to it, what with the chorus slowing down to the rest of the song which you don't often find, but she has managed to pull it off really well. You can tell Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys) had something to do with it, a few guitar solos are just him all over in a few songs, which is no complaint, he is a true guitar player. But yeah, 10/10 album.

It has been a pleasant day at work, which has kept me in a good mood for the entire day. Well, touch wood it stays that way for the rest of the week. Can't be having a bad week at work before Glastonbury can I? I guess it would take a lot to put me in a bad mood just before that. But that'll be the bad moods will be in full swing once that it's over. Haha nah I'm kidding, I'll be in Huddersfield then, so I don't have to get no trains, I can actually walk home and it doesn't cost me anything, what an amazing feeling!

I'm thinking of keeping up the metal theme for the beards for a few weeks. The metal scene is packed with beautiful beards that are asking to be reviewed.

Sunday 15 June 2014

Day 217 - The final week

I'm back in Leeds after a lovely weekend. It's time to clean up the house and head back to my home of Wakefield/Huddersfield.

Got up really early again today, after I stayed up and watched the game with my grandad. I always enjoy watching stuff with him, I don't know why it's just so much more fun. Not that I know anything about football, they seemed to play really well, which surpirsed me. Props to them.

I got back to Wakefield about 4 ish and packed up all my stuff again to head to Leeds. Ended up waiting an hour for a train though, stupid Sundays.

I'm back in Leeds now, ready for a week of cleaning. Boo. Has to be done though. I've only for a four day week at work before I get a week and a bit off which will be beautiful.

Here is a picture of my grandparents god. He's a grumpy old man called Benji.

Saturday 14 June 2014

Day 216 - BBQ

Well I'm down Burton, and we've had a big family BBQ. Love family times.

I got up really early today, earlier than I do for work during the week, but I like getting up early when I'm down my nans, don't know why but I do haha. I guess it could be the epic breakfast that my nan always puts on...maybe.

We got the whole family round, and we had a big BBQ. My uncle really knows how to cook a steak. It was perfect (for me anyway) cooked on the outside and a little pink in the middle. Of course I cleared up everything, I think they like it when I come to a BBQ because no food gets wasted haha.

Not sure if I'm gonna stay up for the entire England game tonight, really tired and I've screwed my back up playing football with Ellie. I come back with an injury every time I come down.

Just thought, in a few days I'll be going past and doing down even futher, woo

Friday 13 June 2014

FRIDAY FEATURED BEARD - Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott (215)

Today a we have a beard which came all the way from The Lone Star State, Texas. A beard so mighty that it was red for years and years and became a well known feature in this very beard. Unforuntatly this beard left us in 2004, but I have a feeling that it won't be forgotten for a very long time.

He's a personal hero of mine in the guitar playing world, Mr. Darrell Dimebag Abbott.

Of course, if you're aware of Dimebag himself you'll know of his bands that he has been a part of such as Pantera and Damage Plan. He started Pantera with his brother back in the 80s, the band trashed on supporting bands such as AC/DC, Metallica and Venom. Although they didn't see eye to eye with a lot of bands, or in fact with each other. After several years of lead singer Phil Anselmos rampant drug abuse, he left the band to start another project. Pantera never formally broke up. After that Dimebag and his brother formed Damage Plan, they released one album but unfortunately Dimebag was shot at a Damage Plan show in 2004.

This is a bit of a curve ball beard for me, you know how I feel about white beards, but a red beard is a totally different matter. This guy loved his beard so much he threw some red on there so everyone for miles could see it. But it wasn't always red. There was a time when Dimebag's beard was just a beard, not that their is anything wrong with a colourless beard, at all. Back in the early Pantera days Dimebag held a wonder extended patch. Infact the black and white picture showing this is a screenshot from one of my all time favourite live videos of Pantera, called Domination. That was one of my first memories of Pantera, other than hearing Cowboys From Hell, but the guitar solo in that video still blows my mind to this day, unreal!

In Dimebags later life the beard became more and more fuller and thicker, and of course more red. It is definatly a trademark of Dimebag, his squealing guitar solos and his red beard will be something I will always remember him by.

Thursday 12 June 2014

Day 214 - Two weeks to go

Normal day at work, can't really complain about it which makes a change I know. Also, 2 weeks to Glastonbury!

Well it happened again, up before my alarm and ready before the train, let's hope I can keep this up. It has been a great day for weather, I really hope that keeps up as well, really want some good weather for Glastonbury. Don't be doing with rain, but I do have my fur coat so all is good haha.

Finishing off Long Way Round whilst Terri is at work, nearly at the end now. Oh yeah, I'm at Terri's for tonight, getting ready to have a classic pizza! Then I'm going home tomorrow after work, and then I'll be going down to Burton for a big BBQ with the family which I'm really looking forward to. Like I say, also enjoy seeing the family. Weather is looking good for this weekend as well, so it should be a lot of fun.

I remember saying in a previous blog that I want to see Ewan McGregor in sometbing with Aaron Paul, well looking through twitter I found this picture...

I mean if they had beards it would be much better but hey, still two of my favourite actors in one picture.

Wednesday 11 June 2014

Day 213 - I gotta say it was a good day

I think Ice Cube perfectly summed up my day today...

Back to square one with the mornings though, again I hit that snooze button and had another 10 minutes before actually getting up. I wasn't as bad as the past few months though, getting up 10 minutes before my train gets in, and then probably have a quick 5 minutes on the train haha.

I got into work and found than the contract for the house had been emailed to me, which got me excited until I read a few things, but I soon got them sorted with the agency. So we're good to go for the house. Hooray.

I've probably had one of my most busiest days today. Phone calls and emails coming out of my ears, and only a handful of people ever say thank you for work I do for them. But I guess that handful makes up for it. But I do have to admit, I am really looking forward to leaving, I know I shouldn't say things like that but I'm just so fed up of the boring 9-5 lifestyle, I'm either to young for it and I might grow into it, or I'll never get use to it. Either way it sucks, and the sooner I am out of here the better. I am not a fan of power mad people, and I have met enough people like that in this place, but don't get me wrong there are some really nice people who work here as well, I just don't know how they deal with it day in day out.

I did end up watching Long Way Round last night, I remember leaving it part way through the season when I last watched it, so I thought I'd jump right in. Considering getting Long Way Down on download as well, I remember watching that when it first aired and I never missed an episode, I love it.

Not sure what to do this weekend really. What with my train pass running low I don't have a lot of options. I can either brave it and go home and buy a new pass over the weekend, or I can stay at home and not buy a new pass. Hmm.

I know one thing though. As soon as I get home I need food and a stupid amount of hours on GTA. Let's go!

Tuesday 10 June 2014

Day 212 - Maybe I could get use to this...?

It's been another great day. Up before my alarm, in a good mood. Lots of friendly and grateful people. Maybe I could actually see myself doing this in a few years time?

Second day in a row that I managed to get up and out the house earlier than I normally do. No rushing for the train, no jumping out of bed at the last minute. Have I finally got use to the world of work? Hmmm. I'd love to tell you that I'm all set for final year and I'm going to knuckle down and make sure I have a job before I leave, I really would love to tell you that. But it won't happen. I know after a few major nights out I'll be back to being the fun student I once was, not the boring IT guy that only sometimes goes out on weekends. I was though, thinking about what I want to do once I do finish my course, and I've made the decision to start saving money right now for this...

I really want to travel. No idea where, I just want to get some money together, book a flight somewhere, preferable with Terri and some friends and just go! And when I mean go, I mean like have no hotel sorted, nothing but the flight and just see as much as I possibly can. I think the easiest option would be around Europe, even though it is so close to home there are some amazing sights to be seen, and experiences to be had. I wanna hitchhike at least once on the journey as well. That is if nobody I go with can drive or we can't afford to hire a car. I think I'd start with a classic and go to the Netherlands. So cheap to get over there, and I'd save some money on flights and what not, by getting a ferry. Then I'd move onto Germany, went there as a kid, and even though I probably didn't enjoy it as much, what with being a kid and everything, I think I'd enjoy it a lot more at my age. The rest will have to be planned later, but it is something I am seriously considering. No better way to broaden the mind, and I bet we'd have some crazy stories to tell when we're all done. You never know, might even take some instruments with us and get some gigs sorted in some strange places. I think I would die happy knowing that I've completed a full tour in different countries, definite life goal of mine.

Well I'm not in the mood to work anymore, I just want to watch some travelling shows and plan what I want to see. I think I'll crack on Long Way Round when I get in and have some food to that. If you've not watched any of them before, they're a great watch. Plus Ewan Mcgregors beard...magical stuff.

Day 211 - It was all going so well

The hangovers gone. Great mood, work has gone totally fine all day. But the world did get some sad news about one of the greatest British comedians. RIP Rik Mayall.

Woke up before my alarm in a great mood, even though I got a terrible nights sleep. Got the earlier train and got into work nice and early ready for the day. I knew I had a bit of a pitch lined up to show another department some website changes. The pitch was generally to see if they can approve all the changes in the code that I am planning on making. I won't bore you with the details, but I came out on top and they really liked my ideas. Which of course added to my great mood.

I actually thought when I woke up, if I can stay positive through out the day, I can properly focus on this pitch it'll all be fine. And it really worked. I think more often I'm going to try and wake up as soon as I actually wake up. I just found myself in a much more happy place overall. Definitely something to think about, if I have a big meeting planned for that day.

Of course something came up which put me back to normal, what with the powers of the internet, news really travels fast. Looking down at my phone I saw the BBC News notification pop up and some very sad news indeed. It really hit me, I grew up watching a lot of comedy shows with Rik Mayall in, what with my family being fans of the show. I know a kid watching shows like that is mental, but the whole slapstick element he injected into shows could make anybody of any age laugh. Then of course I actually re-watched a lot of shows when I was older and found them even more funny. A personal favourite show has to be The Young Ones, what with my age now and being away from home in some questionable student houses, I can relate ever so slightly to it. Just watching all the tweet and Facebook posts roll in does make me happy that he made a big impact on people. Now I'm going to go home and watch as much Bottom, Young Ones and Blackadder as possble.

Day 210 - My Saviour

Yup, I totally forgot because of my stupidly hungover state. Honestly, has to be in my top 3 hangovers. To say it was our last night out in Leeds we went out with a bang. And that bang have just a right headache.

I got in and was expecting and total chill out weekend, but Johnny had been for a quick drink with his mates and ended up wanting to go out. So as soon as he comes in we all wanna go out. Before we know it were getting ready rushing around for a taxi. Totally sick night though, cheap drinks and brilliant music.

Had a dance off with a black guy.

Still not feeling 100% today but I've managed to pull myself together to make some food and do a post. Terri is amazing for logging in and taking my place, she knows full well what I'm like when I'm hungover and she's an amazing person to be able to put up with me and help me out with this blog, what with her being a blogging genius an all. I owe her big time. (She'll probably screenshot me saying that...)

Saturday 7 June 2014

Well well well, someone forgot to blog....

What a task.
Since I know for a fact my forgetful boyfriend has been in quite a hungover state all day and therefore fell asleep ridiculously early, forgetting to blog in the process, I thought, instead of waking him up, I'd just be a top girlfriend and quickly jot down a post for him.
Little did I know, I'd actually forgotten his Blogger password and subsequently have spent the last 15 minutes trying incessantly to hack into this account. So what started as a nice, kind gesture, could actually look a little insane when he wakes up tomorrow morning to find a multitude of emails informing him that a raging stalker has been trying to gain access to his Google accounts. Sorry sleeping beauty, it was in fact me! (Oops..sorry!)

Anyway, long story short - the reason George has been so neglectful is because him and his friends actually went out last night and he has been feeling the effects of that all day today.
I don't know the ins and outs of their antics but I'm sure it was fun and crazy and probably slightly bizarre. But I'm sure he will fill you in tomorrow when he wakes feeling refreshed and fully sober.
For now though, I am also heading to slumberland.

Goodnight and you're welcome,
El Georgio's blogging savior (and long suffering girlfriend!),
Terri

Aaron Paul & Jesse Pinkman - FEATURED BEARD (208)

Today I will be talking about one of the greatest beards of the modern era. This beard took on the world and won.

The very beard I am talking about has won countless awards for his acting skills and has starred in one of the biggest TV shows to date, and one of my personal favorites of all time. Of course I am talking about the true gentleman that knows how to play a 20-something drug dealing meth cook, really well, Mr. Aaron Paul. Well, not just Aaron Paul, his character in Breaking Bad, Jesse Pinkman, had a great beard at times as well

So we'll start with Aaron himself. Just from the first picture we can see a very sleek looking young man, who can pull off the slicked back hair style and beard combo to the max. Not many men can pull of such a statement, but Mr. Paul certainly knows how to wax that hair back and leave the razor on the sink. Many people see a beard as a figure of laziness, not me. A beard shows power and instantly earns respect from another man when in his sight. If Aaron Paul walked past me in the street with such a beard, I just wouldn't be able to control myself, my first automatic reaction would be to grasp onto the beard with both hands and then introduce myself. That is exactly how I work beard first, names later.

Like I mentioned earlier, his most famous character Jesse Pinkman, has also had a fair amount of beard in his time cooking meth for the city of Albuquerque. Jesse here has gone for the classic "dirty beard". Don't think that's a negative, that is maximum respect for any beard wearer. A beard adds a lot of badass points to a man, and if they wear cool ass clothing in the process, you've pulled off the "dirty beard"!

Whats that I hear you say? You Don't think a huge beard goes nice in cool clothing? Are you a fool? Check him out in his casuals with his mighty beard! Yeah that's right, this is a man who can pull of a mighty mane in any get up, this man truly is topping the beard chart right now. If Aaron Paul and Ewan McGregor starred in anything together, regardless of plot or other casting it would be my favourite piece of television/film whatever! We need to make this happen.

But in all seriousness, Aaron Paul is a fantastic actor, and such a great guy. Everything I see on Twitter from him is nothing but love for his fans. He is truly an inspiration to all young aspiring actors out there. The best thing about it his is he still a young guy, so there is so much more we will be seeing from him in the future. I have a lot of time and respect for him as a person, and maybe one day, I'll get to touch that very beard haha.

Thanks for reading.

Day 207 - Slowwwwwww daaaaaaaaaay

It has been a really busy day yet again, but instead of loads of work making it my day go quicker, it decides to slow down. Nooooooo.

Was at Terri's last night, after some epic food she made, so I had a little extra time to spare in the morning for some well deserved sleep. I guess that gets me some good practice for next year when I leave so close to work. It is actually so nice to know that all that is sorted for next year and I can fully focus on work and other things right now. Glastonbury is all sorted, all I'm doing now is waiting for the day to come when I have a week off, and I travel on over to Manchester and waiting for my longest coach ride to date.

As soon as I get into work I have two meetings in the morning. Early morning meetings really are the worst, it's not until about 11/12 until I am actually fully awake to start the day. I honestly thought after a month of two of working I'd be a full on morning person, but it didn't work. I'm still a grump when I comes to waking up early. Unless I'm getting up early for something different, I imagine that's what it will be like when I have to get up at 3AM for the coach in a few weeks. I am a little bit excited about it though. Even though I had a tonne of work I've been powering through my day still ended up being really slow. Usually my days go fast anyway, but today of all days it does the slowest. Honestly feel like I've been sat at this desk for hours, oh wait I have. I don't know how people like me can do unpaid placements, it would totally kill me. If I wasn't getting paid for my work I honestly don't know what I would do.

Apparently Big Brother is starting again tonight? Literally found this out about 10 seconds a go, I think it is time to rant...They have a "big twist" for the launch night. It seems like every year I find social media sites hyping up the launch night of a reality show like Big Brother and it always end up the exact same. They have a "twist" on the first night and then it always turns into a group of morons in a house who find a way to piss each other off. Of course they find a group of people who are going to clash, because that's how reality TV works. It wouldn't be good TV if they all got along and had fun, why do people enjoy watching other people clash so much? I have to admit, when Big Brother first started, I actually enjoyed watching it. But now it just seems really fake and overly edited. Charlie Brooker made a really good video about how editing can change how we see things on TV. Obviously it is a little tongue in cheek the way he has done it, but you get the idea.

It really does show, how shows like Big Brother can change how people look and react to certain things. It is almost as if they fix who is going to win, and of course they charge big prices for the general public to be able to vote. Every week they could make a "bad guy" or a "bad girl" and they could cash in so much. I guess they do it on the sly to not make it seem obvious, but that is generally what puts me off shows like this and X-Factor. But don't get me wrong, the whole idea of Big Brother is totally different, even though it is based on the George Orwell novel - Nineteen Eighty-Four. Reminds me, I might have to buy that book and give it a read sometime.

Speaking of books, I really want to read Charles Darwin's book "On The Origin of Species". It is probably really dense for a book noob like me, but I'd like to give it a try at least. A book I'm reading right now, which is nothing like the two previous books I've mentioned is Johnny Cash, the Story of Johnny Cash. When I first got into guitar-based music for some reason Cash never came up. I've only really recently got into him and his music. It is nice to know about a wide variety of stories from different eras and people, so many people from history, whether that be music or any other vocation have some great stories to tell.

Well, tomorrow is beard day, so here are some clues:

Day 206 - My ticket is here!

Boring day at work but I got the good news that my Glastonbury ticket has arrived.

Horrible morning trying to get into work. Had a trolley guy on the train swear at me, I won't go into it because it's pretty boring, and I've said it about 10 times today haha. Anyway, I've complained and waiting for a response.

I got a phone call today from my mum, and she told me that my Glastonbury ticket had arrived. It's cool that it has a pictures on it, even though it's for security, it's still pretty cool haha.

I'm at Terri's tonight and she made an epic lasagne. She totally nailed it, and it tasted like a dream. Makes me want to start cooking a little more. Maybe next year in the new house, I only have a few more days left in our house. Going to be weird.

Day 205 - Blogging properly at home!

Okay, I might have forgotten to blog at work, but I said to myself "I refuse to do a short and shitty mobile post". So here I am in front of my laptop blogging. Go me.

Managed to get a stupid amount of sleep last night, so I woke up feeling totally fine and ready to take on the day. And what with yesterday being such a good day, I was still in a good mood. Double good day, very rare.

DO NOT READ ON IF YOU ARE NOT UP TO DATE WITH GAME OF THRONES!

Even though the ending of that episode had already been ruined for me, by the horrible group of people that read the books and think they are better than the folks watching the TV show, I did really enjoy the entire thing. It everything from laughter to shock and boobs. We actually thought about it last night, and decided their is no episode of Game of Thrones without at least one boob in it. But yeah, what I expected happened but I'm really looking forward to the next few episodes seen as though I now have no idea what is going to happen. Crazy to think that it is a long long time til the actual end of the show. But only 2 more weeks until the end of this season, and 2 more weeks until I move out of this very house and head over to Glastonbury.

Speaking of Glastonbury, my ticket got dispatched yesterday, and I'm in the process of ordering a pipe for the weekend haha. I was thinking of taking it another step up, and buying some silver grillz to go with my fur coat and pipe, overkill?

I had the usual work load in front of me, but I battled on through the day like always. I even got a few conversations out of some people which again is rare in my day. I'm usually the guy who turns up and is expected to fix something with no questions, but the odd person actually asked me a few questions about my job which was nice.

I really need to get thinking of a beard for this Friday. I think I have one in mind from Breaking Bad which I really want to do. Pretty sure I mentioned his name a while back. But I'm sure a few more will pop up over the next few days which I can get some words around.

Anyway, a killer pizza is in the oven, and I think I'd fall into a seriously deep depression if it burned. Seen as though I'm topping it up with extra toppings and cheese (as always).

Monday 2 June 2014

Day 204 - Monday. A GOOD Monday...

Yeah that's right. I got up, went to work, and had a great day. (I guess having no work could have made this day even better, but I'm a big boy this year and I have to get up and do stuff like that. Boo.)

Got up before my alarm which is super rare, got myself a nice early shower and I was ready before I knew it. Even though I could go in a little later today. I had a little surf on the old World Wide Web, but that was short lived because like always, it was packed full of Game of Thrones spoilers. I have to go a full 24 hours before the air date til I can actually watch it, which means a full day of gentle internet use. Which I'm not a fan of at all.

Work was pretty normal, plenty of work to be getting on with, with no thanks for anything. No change.

But, and this is a big but. The house if now totally ready for us, all forms are out the way, we're just waiting for a pre-inspection of the house and then we're good to go after Glastonbury. I really like the idea of a pre-inspection, so we get to check out the house before hand and someone official gets to see any previous damage. So if we're good boys next year we should be all good for when we leave, but that's a whole year from now. We're a little worried about our current house and the state of the garden, but we've not been told to maintain the garden, so we're not going to. Might have to have another read of the contract just in case. Estate agents are slippery people. But all being well, we should be all good for leaving very soon. I will actually be moving out fully in a few weeks. Making the travel from Wakefield to Huddersfield for a week or so is not going to be pleasant at all. But soon I'll have two full months of living very close to my work place, hooray! On top of that, I got an email about my Student Finance saying that it has all gone through for next year, which is great news. A lot has changed family-wise so I was a little worried about it, but it went fine and it's all sorted which is another step towards final year. Scary times.

The train ride is was a lot of fun. I've never been a big fan of The Mars Volta, but my house mate showed me an album which was Frances the Mute (2005). The 4th song on that album just blew my mind completely, the name alone is enough to make my want to listen to it. "Miranda that ghost just isn't holy anymore". I've posted the video to it, in its entire 24 minute epicness. It really is a beautifully made piece of music. It is classes as one song, but is split up into around 5 different movements. If you're into you're crazy timings and mental guitar solos then this will be right up your street.

This weekend in general has just been such a great weekend again. We managed to get the tent up in a really good time. To say it was our first time doing it really it put us in all good for the rest of the day. Soon as that was out the way, we cooked loads of food and had a few beers. Which was really nice.

I best get thinking of a beard for the end of the week. I might skip the diary entry and

Day 203 - I need to be lazy

With Dan being round last night we had a late one, and even when I got into bed I ended up getting no sleep so I'm so tired today. Really cannot wait to get back into bed, even though I'm up early for work.

The travel into work shouldn't be too bad though, I got a Santana album on my phone and I'm going to have that on for the entire journey. Perfect.

I thought is get up a little earlier than normal for a Sunday and I clean up the living room a little. Then we all went into Leeds and decided to get some food. We thought at first we'd go to a Spoons for something but then we remembered about the amazing food court in Leeds. (Now I'm about to post photos using my phone and it normally screws up a little when I do that but you get it). We found a Vietnamese place called Pho.

The menu is packed full of names I've never heard of so we asked for se recommendation and they did not disappoint at all. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the dish, but it tasted amazing and it was such a good price.

I even got taught how to use chop sticks properly, which I will be using in future for food like that. In the picture it doesn't look like much food, but noodles are so filling and they really do fill you up nicely.

I'm determined to get Terri to try out some more oriental food. We made a stir fry once and she liked it but she refuses to this day that we even made it haha. I think we'll have reached a peak when we're eating at a Wagamama, that's the goal. So if you're reading this get ready!

Think I'm gonna laze about for the rest of the day now, and get ready for Game of Thrones tomorrow, woo!
